Welcome to Tangerine Dreams! Located on the beach in South Nags Head this cottage is exceptional for it’s authentic beach cottage feel with the modern updates that make your vacation on the Outer Banks become a tradition and not a visit. . Nestled behind the dunes with it’s own pier to the beach and a sunrise dune deck, the cottage has been updated with Central Air/Heat and a truly “one of a kind” outdoor shower/bathroom. With 3 bedrooms, the cottage sleeps 7: with two Master Bedrooms, One Bunk room with trundle bed and a futon bed in the den for that uncle that showed up unannounced and snores. In case you were wondering, there is an indoor bathroom as well. Built in the 1950’s, this cottage is located in walking distance from the Nags Head Fishing Pier. While South Nags head is sought after for it’s wide beaches and low density without the commercial sprawl, the Pier offers excellent live entertainment, fishing, great shrimp happy hours, and karaoke. The cottage is also conveniently located minutes away from the famous fishing grounds of Oregon Inlet in one direction and minutes away from Historic Manteo in another. For the City Slickers, the Tangor Outlet Mall is also 10 minutes North. There is no better location on the Outer Banks than South Nags Head to appreciate the authentic beach vacation with minimal commercialism and yet still have access to the High bustle areas.

We had the absolute best week ever! Wonderful house that we fell in love with! Everything we needed for cooking meals with a well stocked kitchen. The access to the beach was perfect for an easy walk and hauling our fishing gear. Will definitely be back!

Sweet Cottage

This is my first VRBO. The process couldn't be more easy. Host gave me all the instructions right before the trip. The house is exactly as described. It was very clean. We had a great time and would definitely come back.

Great Spot!

This was perfect for a long weekend with my wife. Great access to the beach, and close to many awesome restaurants via the beach road. The outside "shower" is the coolest ive ever seen, and was used more than once! 😉 really great place!

3rd time staying at this little gem!

You cannot beat the location of this cottage! Everything was clean and they house has great AC. We love the screened in porch in the mornings and evenings. Zac the host communicates immediately. So many great restaurants within a 10 min drive. We just LOVE this little gem! Until next time :-)

Love, LOVE this house and location!!

Great beach cottage with more than enough room for everyone! Literally just steps away from the beach. Southern end of Nags Head, so the beach wasn't crowded at all! Super close to tons of restaurants and shopping. Only critique being I miss the Tangerine exterior!! Lol. Hopefully the owners will paint it back at some point. Overall, we had a great stay and we will definitely be coming back!!

Gorgeous location with thoughtful amenities

We loved our dune cottage! It was such a nice time, letting the kids be able to hop over to the beach without crossing any roads. The views from the dune deck were beautiful! For those with little ones, I will say this portion of Nags Head beaches are a little steeper and deeper than other areas, but overall we never worried for safety. We loved and used the outdoor shower often, and the high-pressure hose was a life-saver on all of our feet and equipment. The beds were comfortable and the deck was so dreamy!

It's not tangerine!!!!

We had a hard time finding house from the road, because we were looking for tangerine! After we figured out the exact location we fell in love. We will definitely be back . Perfect little house, perfect escape! My son Niko cried when we had to leave! He didn't want to say good bye to the ocean!goobye

Clean, convenient, cozy

These are my top three things I loved about this rental: 1. On the beach with a beautiful view from the dune deck. This cottage sits behind a dune so to have an ocean view you have to walk up to the dune deck. 2. It's clean! 3. Price. I felt it is reasonably priced for it's location. Zach was always responsive to our messages and we thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Tangerine Dream.

Old School Nags Head Experience

We loved this little old school beach box. It’s got everything you need— but it’s not upscale/ recently renovated so take note. It’s clean, comfortable, homey, beachy and affordable. It’s not granite counters and cutesy retro appliances. Since we spent almost all our time on the porch or the beach- that was perfect! One tip is that there’s only really one spot for putting on makeup and using heat styling was tricky. With three toget ready, it was a bonding experience… That’s not a complaint— a tip for others!! Next time, I’ll bring a lighted make up mirror for our big night out. We’re grateful a place like this is available to rent and have a low key beach vacation in

Little diamond in the sand

We vacationed for a week in OBX in Tangerine Dreams. This Outer Banks beach house is an original bungalow home. It sits behind a dune, but has a walkway to access the beach, directly behind the home. The house itself has all new LVP flooring throughout, an updated bathroom, all stainless steel appliances in kitchen, to include a full size refrigerator. Every bedroom now has a flat screen TV hung from the wall, plus one in main living area. We were able to cook meals without any issue with all kitchenware that is provided. We enjoyed much family time playing games we brought at the kitchen table when it rained one afternoon, while looking out the 3 windows in that area of the weather outside. There is also an outdoor shower and toilet, which are also all new. And super convenient. The location is convenient to get to Manteo or Hatteras areas, and is a nice trip to get to northern areas of beach, for restaurants and shopping. Jenette's Pier is about 2ish miles up the road as is one of our faves Sam and Omies. Fishheads Restaurant on the Outer Banks pier is about a mile up the road, an easy walk on the paved exercise trails.The owner is super responsive. We discovered a GFI outlet in bathroom was not working and he came and fixed it promptly. We also obtained earlier access to the house, than the late afternoon check in time, once the cleaners came through and finished. That was so nice and convenient! We only have positives to share! This was a wonderful stay, a hidden gem!

IMPRESSED!

This little gem of a cottage was just what we were looking for. It had character! The location was perfect and it was immaculately clean. We have rented houses in the OBX for years - from Duck to Hatteras, and Tangerine Dreams was by far our favorite. It was REALLY nice being able to step right outta the car and go up only 2 porch steps to get in. (So many of the rentals down there have a million steps and lugging coolers, suitcases, etc. is exhausting). It was a very short walk over the dune to the beach. Sitting on the lovely screened in porch listening to the waves crash was amazing. Zac, we appreciated your super fast responsiveness and for sharing your little piece of heaven with us. We would love to come back!

Three "C"s

Clean Comfortable Close A "C" is usually an average grade, but in this case the C's were all exceptional. This was my wife and I's second trip to OBX, the first time we'd stayed at a place right on the Atlantic ocean. My wife has a bad knee, and while walking in sand for any distance is a trial for her. We managed the short walk to the water almost every day for a week. We had a grand time. The king bed (the only one we slept in) and the couch are very comfortable. It has a very spacious kitchen table. We used the charcoal (my preference) grill a couple of times. One very small suggestion, if they were there I didn't know where to find any grill tools - spatula, tongs, etc., but that's a really small nit. I made do with implements I found in the kitchen drawers. This was a really great find. No regrets at all in staying here.
