"The hotel was perfectly fine, well located, and the room was clean and spacious. The staff was mostly friendly. Two issues I want to raise were the breakfast service and the decision to put an able bodied person in an accessible room when it was not specifically requested. On my first morning, I used the in-room tablet to order an āAmericanā breakfast. Not only did it take over an hour, when the person arrived, she only had my coffee juice and eggs. Something about the hotels system does not register the entire breakfast after it asks about specific selections. She then had to put in for the other items which, of course, took longer. Finally, I requested bacon (pork) and she returned with chicken sausage explaining that because the hotel had Muslim guests, there wasnāt any pork on the premises. However, I donāt eat chicken which I could have told her if she had asked and not assumed the substitution would be ok. Needless to say, I didnāt get breakfast ever again. Secondly, I was assigned an accessible room, but did not request it. For reasons that make sense for a non-abled bodied person, gone shower, sink and toilet are all open with no dividers. This means every time I took a shower the entire space, including the toilet, sink and entire floor was wet. This was a major inconvenience during my stay, and I would have preferred a standard room since I didnāt actually need any accommodations. While the hotel was a decent value for the money, I likely wouldnāt stay there again."
"Wonderful service especially the staff at the restaurant. Emma NK served us daily and was extremely helpful, attentive, and kind. Wonderful stay and would highly recommend it."
"It was a short staycation for my hubbyās bday. Over all everything was great. Except the sauna and steam room wasnāt working. There wasnāt any cocktails available by the pull side. And our couples massage wasnāt the best weāve had. Aside those little things, everything else made his bday great."
"Overall a very good service. One thing that stood out for me though - it was lovely to hear the pianist playing each morning and evening in the lobby."
"Excellent service, Lovely hotel with good food. Breakfast buffet and Sunday brunch is great and the Thursday night cultural show is wonderful! Felt like home."
The best area to stay in Mwogo is in the region surrounding the Mwogo River, particularly near the main road connecting to Huye.
This area offers a good balance of accessibility and a pleasant environment. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and lodges dotted along this stretch, often with views of the river valley and the surrounding hills. It's a convenient base for exploring the local area without being too isolated.
For travellers interested in cultural experiences and local life, staying closer to the outskirts of a larger village along this road can be beneficial. You'll be within easy reach of local markets and smaller communities, providing a more authentic glimpse into daily Rwandan life. These guesthouses often have staff who can help arrange local tours or transport.
Couples looking for a more relaxed and scenic stay might prefer a lodge slightly further from the main village centres. These often boast more expansive grounds, offer more privacy, and provide opportunities for quiet walks or enjoying the natural surroundings.
