"Considering the hotel is only open for beds rooms it was in a decent condition just a little dated"

"The hotel was fine other than the fact that the earliest check-in time is 1500 and we arrived at 1520 but our room wasn't ready. This isn't acceptable when you have plans to meet up with people. Check out is at 11am so there is plenty of time to prepare rooms for new arrivals. There are two lifts but they both don't seem to work all the time. As this hotel was recently re-branded I would expect issues such as these to be dealt with before reopening. The rooms were clean and a decent size and one of the ladies at the breakfast buffet was particularly friendly & helpful. "

"The room was so small, and window was facing lots of pipes and noise was terrible Two people could not walk the room at the same time. Storage / wardrobe hanging the cloths was limited as there was a safe below, complained but they could only offer a room the same size, in the end we left a day early because we could not deal with another night"

"I want to leave an honest balanced review. The house is in a lovely area for walks and to drive to some nice villages / attractions.The owner let us check in an hour earlier so we could drop off some groceries which was much appreciated. The cleaners were not there so it was ready for us anyway. The house itself is quite dated and still has a lot of things/ ornaments there belonging to its owners (current owner’s late parents) which we are asked to not touch. The furniture is a bit wobbly. Some things need fixing like loose door/ cupboard handles. Kitchen is well stocked but we had to wash everything before using. The shower was blocked and as the owner lives a long way away and it was a BH weekend so plumber not available, my husband had to spend time cleaning it after fashioning a plunger with whatever was available! The owner had told us there was another shower over the bath which we could just use - true but we specifically booked a house with 2 showers as there were 6 of us. The cleaner did come over the next day with some drain cleaner to use and some towels (as not enough there for us all when we arrived). We left behind a charger which the owner very generously said she’d have posted to us but unfortunately it never arrived. We did have a lovely weekend but not because of the house. "

"After getting checked in by a not very helpful member of staff and paying the car parking charge we made our way up to our room via the stairs as one of the lifts was out of service and was a big queue for the other one. We entered the tiny room that you get provided, checked out the bathroom and it was grim, full of mould looks like someone had peed in the shower and just generally untidy. Went back to reception lugging all our stuff back down the stairs to ask for a new room, was met with the same unhelpful staff member who didn’t even seem like she wanted to change our room until the other staff member stepped in and said to change the room. New room wasn’t the best either with some staining on the curtains which I don’t even want to think what it was and a shower which you had to turn off 4 times throughout the shower to let it drain, but we couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of going back down so put up with it. The rooms look very tired and are very small definitely not what you expect from a 4* hotel I assume they only get that rating from the rest of the facilities they provide? Went downstairs to grab our free drink we got given for the problem with the room to be met by a woman on the bar who clearly didn’t want to be in work that day with the reception we got from her! Next morning we got woke up by drums coming from downstairs not sure what was going on, but the rooms are no where near noise proof at all so I recommend bringing some earplugs."

"The hotel is undergoing what appears to be a paint refresh, so this probably clouded my judgement slightly. That said, the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The room was ok, but dresser doors wouldn’t close, paint was chipped and generally it looked well worn. The hotel location is great and the nearby restaurants are well worth a visit. The bed was very comfy so that’s a plus. Overall our experience was good, but could have been better."

"This is an excellent hotel for the price <£100. Everything is new, clean and works. The public areas are nice, the bar is excellent and the food was great. It’s very convenient for the train station and there is decent parking available nearby"

"Great stay again at this property. We were here for 2 nights for the ice hockey play offs. We had booked 2 rooms and the lovely gentleman on reception kindly upgraded us to executive rooms and accommodated our request for one of them to be made into a twin."
