"This hotel is an old mansion and luxury boutique hotel. It is well kept and would be a great venue for a wedding. As an older hotel, it has shared spaces like sitting areas, bathrooms, game rooms, etc. It has old heaters in many rooms and a claw foot bathtub in the upstairs bathroom. It is in a safe neighborhood and very convenient to downtown Couer d'Alene. We were on the 3rd floor and had to climb up some narrow staircases to our room. The floors were a bit creaky, as you would expect in a historic building. It was definitely an experience you won't get with the corporate hotels.The hosts were friendly and made breakfast. The Blackwell was a unique experience! "

"Overall it was a good place to stay. The listing says garage parking, and made a big deal about it in their listing…but that was not an option. Also nowhere in the listing does it say that they have renters downstairs. In the house you see a post that asks you to be quiet during certain hours. I typically try to stay where there isn’t some type of attachment like this. There was no main TV for us to watch any Christmas movies. There are tv’s in each bedroom expect the loft. Since we were there for Christmas I didn’t know if they would have a tree up and messaged a month before to see. Didn’t hear back until the day before that the owners didn’t put any sort of decor up for the holiday, which was fine, but would have been nice. It is an old house, the refrigerator is loud- not a big deal. The house is in a great location, and is clean. We did have fun, just a few annoyances, but overall good. "

Warm and cozy… decorated for Christmas holiday; piano available for music; puzzles available; great kitchen; and incredible views of Lake Coeur d’Alene.Very good communication with host and management.
