Peace on the Prairie: Native prairie setting - Pets allowed. No cleaning fees

This is a studio apartment with full kitchen, full bath, free wireless Internet, and free laundry. A 50" HD smart television along with local network program (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, and FOX through Digital antenna), and Netflix are available for your TV programming. One queen size bed and one queen size futon couch/bed provide sleeping for four.

Relax and reconnect with nature as you experience peace and the sounds of nature by walking the trails on 24 acres of beautiful prairie restoration. Perhaps just sit and listen to the birds and frogs without the sounds or lights of the city. This 30' x 16' apartment is a stand-alone unit attached to our garage and adjacent to our home. Great for weekend getaways to escape the hustle of the city and for travelers who are just passing through.

All Springfield, Illinois Abraham Lincoln sites are within an hours drive as well as the state fair grounds in Springfield. Approximately 2 hours north of St. Louis and 3 - 4 hours south of the Chicago metro area near historic Jacksonville, Illinois.

Jacksonville is approximately a 20-minute drive with many dining and shopping opportunities. Several dining opportunities that we recommend are:
Muggsy's - American Style Food
Brick House - Barbeque Smoke House
Lonzerotti's - Italian
Leo's - Pizzeria Italian Food.2
SafeCo - SafeCo fresh bakery is a very good option for donuts and fresh baked goods.

Springfield is about a 50 minute drive with many more shopping and dining opportunities.

This is a very nice efficiency/studio apartment available for short stays for those who want to get away from city life for during the week or for a weekend, those who are just traveling through but don't want to stay in a hotel. There is lots of space for kids to explore or adults to relax with a country walk through native prairie or you can sit by the pond and enjoy the tranquility of the country without the sounds of the city. Listen to the birds, frogs, crickets, and view the evening stars without city lights. Perhaps you will see a herd of deer or two that are very common to this area. A fishing pond is available if you bring the fishing equipment with blue gill and bass fishing. You're welcome to catch and release or catch, clean and serve for your dinner.

Satellite pictures and directions are available by searching the web with the key search words 'Klein Prairie'. This unit sits across the drive from the owners house

Beautiful and welcoming!
I was not expecting this property to be at the back of the owners garage, but it was absolutely perfect. It was secluded enough that we had alone time. There are trails all around the property (watch for ticks), and an apiary. Its out in the country and quiet. Make sure to try the local ice cream place.

Right in the center of nature’s beauty
I only needed a place to sleep, and I had my dog with me. It was perfect. There were mowed paths through the surrounding fields for walking. The birds sang and chattered to each other. There were honeybee hives on the property and wildflowers. It was peaceful. Inside on the kitchen table was a plate of choc chip cookies…delicious! The kitchen had the normal plates and cups, cookware, utensils, but also plastic bags, plastic wrap, canned food items, condiments, spices. Coffee and tea bar- also local honey and maple syrup available for purchase. Books to read, TV…cool pictures on the wall… If you needed something, it was probably there. I wish I could have stayed longer. I would definitely make the trip back.

R&R with the Dogs
Our first vacation taking our dogs with us was the perfect mix of R&R, exploration, and nature. No breed, or size discrimination, which is very much appreciated. We were greeted by three cats (one of whom just let himself in as soon as we opened the door), the room was pleasantly cool, and well organized for the small space that it is in. There's plenty of plates, silverware, cookware, bowls, and spices to make almost anything you'd want - just bring your food with you. If you forget to do that, there are stores 20+ minutes away. The trails are full of plants and flowers, with active bee farming interspersed. And despite it being in the 80s and humid, we all enjoyed the walks.
