Brow Well Ruthwell Parish Robert Burns visited Brow Well on the 4th July 1796. On the advice of his doctor he drank the waters (a chalybeate spring) and returned home to Dumfries on the 18th where he died on 21st July 1796.

Absolutely a beautiful place to stay with a large group. This enormous facility comes with huge bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. It is so nice to sleep in rooms that feel sound proof. Having a washer and dryer was very helpful, especially at the end of our long trip through Europe.
