"The staff are very friendly here. Got a couple of free drink vouchers which were appreciated, and you can enjoy that drink by the fire in the dining room. Be aware the hotel has no elevator (which is very inconvenient) and the rooms don’t have air conditioning/heatpump. You need a degree to figure out how to operate the heater in the room, and I didn’t find it very good. If you visit in winter, I suggest taking the blanket out of the waredrobe and putting it on your bed as soon as you arrive. The wafer thin duvet & sheet won’t keep you warm. The bathrooms are also very old style (the hotel has a new name but has not been “upgraded”). That said, I found the shower really good and lovely big fluffy bath sheet towels which were amazing."

"Absolutely beautiful stay. The gardens were immaculate, the cottage was spotless, and it had everything we could possibly have needed. Lesley had even turned the heat pump and electric blanket on before we arrived, so the whole place was wonderfully warm and cosy when we walked in — such a thoughtful touch.Communication was exceptionally quick, easy and friendly from beginning to end. We also really appreciated how genuinely welcome our dog was. She had a beautiful time exploring and relaxing with us, which made the stay even more special.A gorgeous, peaceful place that has clearly been cared for with a great deal of thought. We would very happily stay again!"

"Classic Kiwi bach experience. We were pleasantly surprised by how kitted out it was - all kitchen appliances, some extra pantry staples, puzzle/games, basically everything you would have in an actual home. We really enjoyed our stay and the host was quick to respond if we had any issues. Very cosy little Hanmer retreat, we would love to stay again some time!"
