One thing that you expect, even in a three star motel, is some degree of cleanliness but when there is a plug of hair in the shower drain, all bets are off. Then during the day the cleaners were in the room when we returned from a walk. We waited until they had 'finished', but there was no obvious signs that anything had actually been done. Room bins not emptied, hair plug still revoltingly staring up from the shower drain. It was Easter and everything was booked out but next time we'd rather sleep in our car.

Description of the ad is deceiving. Very different from how it’s been pictured. It’s not two bedrooms with family room. It is one bedroom with 2 single beds in the bedroom unit. and a double bed in its lounge room. Paid too much for this place. Beds need to retire, Sink in the bathroom has leaking pipes that wets the floor and bath where the shower was getting flooded quickly due to the drainage full of hair. The small couched will sit your bottom almost on the ground. Towels are stained and not so clean . $250 per night is a total is way too much .

The only complaint was the pictures on wotif, it was very deceiving, the rooms looked more modern with the bed covers and cushions But otherwise it was a comfortable stay

Friendly staff but disappointing room
While the staff were very friendly and helpful, the property was very dated and uncomfortable. The floors felt dingy and the shower without a shower curtain or enclosure was a hazard

The motel was exactly where we needed to be and so was very convenient. Although it was dated and rather dowdy, it was very clean, and the beds surprisingly warm and comfortable; I can get a sore back and hips in poor beds, but did not with the single bed in the room, and slept very well though am often a poor sleeper. The hand-shower was very good. The heating was from a new-looking in-wall reverse-cycle unit of the old type, and was relatively noisy. It did warm the place ok, though. Even though it was a very cold night, we kept warm enough without it being on overnight. The worst bit was that the sofa was extremely low and soft and my husband had extreme difficulty getting up from it, almost having to fall forward and clamber up holding onto the little table; he ended up having to sit on the bed instead - not an ideal situation for an 'old-bloke' of 85. We intend coming into Mt. G for future events at the same venue and may stay there again - all depends, but is unlikely because of the lack of a comfortable sofa or armchair high enough to be safe.

Cheap and cheerful
The motel is located in the centre of town and is only 5-10mins walk to the heart of Mt Gambier. The room is very spacious, clean and comfortable. If you are looking for luxury, look again, but if you are just looking for a place to rest after a day exploring and don't mind retro vibes and furnishings, this is for you.
