A perfect retreat for couples wishing to explore the popular small coastal town of Amble. The large bedroom is bright and airy with special acoustic glass on the windows minimising noise, ensuring a great night’s sleep in the kingsize bed in this pretty large bedroom. The large living area, with comfy sofa and colourful artwork, is perfect for those evenings in with a small table to sit at and enjoy your home cooked meals prepared in the bright and modern kitchen, equipped with everything you will need for your well deserved holiday by the sea.
However, you will be spoilt for choice staying in Amble, there is plenty of delicious restaurants and cafés within easy walking distance of your front door. Amble is known as ‘the friendliest port’ and the locals embrace this. The working harbour is home to a busy Sunday market, popular with locals and visitors. Here you can find the bespoke pod-style shopping outlets selection of crafts and local items. The harbour area has two great fish and chip shops, and some popular restaurants specialising in fish. Boat trips round Coquet Island are available from here. With views towards Warkworth Castle on a clear day, and you can walk to Warkworth from Amble along past the marina and river.
Warkworth is a pretty, picture postcard style village dominated by the castle which sits at the top of the village, and the pubs and cafés here are all worth a visit. Amble is the start of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stretching along the coastline to Berwick-upon-Tweed with miles of golden beaches and castles. Make sure you visit Holy Island, which was featured in local author L.J. Ross’ novel, but make sure you check the tide tables to access the causeway. Don’t miss a visit to Alnwick 10 miles north where you must visit the majestic castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and featured in some Harry Potter Hogwarts scenes.
Wander the cobbled streets and soak up some history whilst stopping off for lunch. Visitors to Scotswood can explore Amble on foot or on cycles, the owners provide a secure locked garage for cycles, motorbikes, paddleboards and equipment. Beach ¾ mile. Shop and restaurant 500 yards, pub 300 yards.
