The Hat Creek Retreat

The Hat Creek Retreat

10/10 Excellent
"Super cute cabin. So many extra little touches that really made a difference. The sunrise and sunsets over the pines were incredible. Unfortunately I picked the hottest week of the year so the fire pit was not able to be utilized, but I’d love to roast marshmallows here someday. We went so many places and saw so many things, but there was still so much more we didn’t have time for. Host was easy to get a hold of with questions."

"We had an amazing stay in Castle!!! Caught a few rainbows in Hat Creek and enjoyed fish for dinner. We got to visit Lassen Volcanic sites, Manzanita Lake, Baum Lake, Lake Britton, and also took the time to drive up to Redwood National Park since we were visiting from Fresno. The cabin was as advertised and very cozy and comfortable. Plenty of cooking utensils for indoor cooking. So many things to do but not enough time. Thank you Hat Creek for the amazing fishing and adventures."

"A wonderful stay at a fantastic house! The photos in the listing don't do it justice! The house and property are larger than you think. Hat creek seen from the backyard is also huge and so pleasant—beautiful geese gathering in the water, hawks flying overhead. I spent plenty of time on the back deck watching the wildlife and relaxing while the outdoor grill was doing it's thing. The interior of the house has a vintage 70s flair on the inside that is really special and harkens back to a simpler time, and yet the house is also fully equipped with the modern amenities we can't live without, like wifi, a tv with Roku access (airplay, etc), and updated AC. I stayed here with a few friends in July and it was just what we needed. The house is also fairly close to Lake Britton which was a great place to day trip to picnic and swim. Thank you to our really lovely hosts for their clear communication, easy checkin and checkout instructions, for being friendly, and for taking care of us and giving us some tips too for where to explore during our stay. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the company of their friends and family."

"Jodi gave our family my favorite VRBO experience yet. The location was perfect for us because it's not far from Redding/I-5 but provides easy access to Lassen and other natural attractions, It's an idyllic property on the rural chapparal country, complete with delightful farm animals and an absolutely beautiful private waterfall with a swimming hole below it. The house itself is lovely, clean and comfortable, with a phenomenal kitchen, which is also well equipped. Everything, including the hot tub, was in perfect working order. The seven of us fit very comfortably. Everything about this place is nice and well thought out. It's also really cool that the power is solar and the water is off-grid as well. But our hosts were the best thing about our experience. They were generous and welcoming, and happy to introduce us to the animals."

"Great place, away from the busy city center of Redding. Very nice rooms. Smelled great. Very clean. The a/c worked very well, which was amazing since it is very hot there in the summer. The owner was very friendly and accommodating."
