Casa Cielo: Bird’s Eye Views– proceeds support Sustainability Center
All proceeds from Casa Cielo fund the animal welfare, environmental and social welfare programs at the Sustainability Center. Casa Cielo is a breathtaking paradise with unmatched views of the forested mountains of Monteverde and is perfect for families or groups of friends. Enjoy exploring the private forest trails throughout our 2.5 hectare/6 acre property, and relax on the balcony to enjoy incredible sunsets over forest valley and the Gulf of Nicoya. Just minutes from Santa Elena and the Monteverde reserves, this cabin is the perfect home base for all of your ecotourism adventures in the cloud forest!
Casa Cielo is truly the most awe-inspiring home in Monteverde. This two-story (plus loft) A-frame cabin makes guests feel as if they are living in the sky. Hawks can often be seen soaring over the valley from the large picture windows running the length of the first floor. The sunrises and sunsets from the hammock on the upstairs balcony are an unforgettable experience. We provide you with free organic coffee from our farm in Monteverde for the first morning of your stay for you to settle in and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the surrounding forest.
Casa Cielo features a whirlpool bathtub on the second floor for two overlooking the valley forest views. With gorgeous hardwood floors throughout the cabin and plenty of spaces to relax, Casa Cielo is the ideal spot for a vacation in paradise. With a double bed and loft bed upstairs, plus a cozy futon, Casa Cielo easily sleeps 5 people. Both the downstairs bathroom and upstairs whirlpool bathtub have hot water, and there is a washing machine and double clothesline. You’ll enjoy the view while cooking in our fully-equipped kitchen, and the whole family will love sitting down for a meal at our custom-crafted dining table. Of if you’d rather relax, you can enjoy traditional Costa Rican meals cooked by our neighbors from the local community and delivered to you.
You’ll love relaxing on the couch or in the armchair in the living room, curling up with a book on the upstairs loveseat, or enjoying a sunset coffee or glass of wine in the balcony hammock. The views in Casa Cielo are unmatched no matter where you are in the cabin. The dining table looks out onto our forest preserve property, and further beyond into the valley and out to the Gulf of Nicoya. All of our guests love the upstairs balcony, which has a custom designed wrought iron railing– feel free to set up the hammock for some serious relaxing or take it down to do sunrise yoga.
Enjoy playing a game or reading from our library collection of children and adult books, Costa Rican guidebooks, and books about local flora and fauna. Sit down at the desk to write a story in our guestbook or look up activities in Monteverde with free Wifi. With over 2.5 hectares/6 acres of private forest to explore via our trails, you will have a great time exploring the famous cloud forests of Monteverde and seeing various plants and animals (including parrots, toucans, and monkeys).
You can enjoy the entire house, private parking space, and the private 2.5 hectare/6 acre lush forest property that surrounds Casa Cielo. There is a private gated entrance and short flat trail leading to Casa Cielo.
We provide guests with the option of ordering homemade meals that are delivered straight to your doorstep! Please arrange with us ahead of time if you would like meals (breakfasts, lunches, and/or dinners) prepared throughout your stay.

We had a lovely stay at Casa Cielo. The views from the property are amazing, and it is conveniently located on the main road through to Santa Elena/Monteverde. We’re also very happy in benefits the Sustainability Center, which is one of the main reasons we booked.

A very charming cabin immersed in nature!
Our family had a magical stay—we were even greeted by monkeys one morning, which was such a fun and unexpected surprise as they watched us curiously. The cabin is cozy and beautifully nestled in the natural surroundings.
Access to the property involves a short walk with your luggage, but as a family of campers, it just felt like another adventure. Totally worth it for the peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking views. We’d absolutely recommend it to nature lovers looking for a unique and memorable experience!
We had a good stay at Casa Cielo. The sunsets and sunrises are absolutely amazing! The bed was comfortable however it was really short. Also, FYI the cabin is more on the rustic side and the balcony could use some work.
We enjoyed our time in the area. We did a hike at the Santa Elena Cloud Forrest Reserve. A night hike tour at the Santa Elena Night walk. The rest of the time we just enjoyed the town and area eating at Sodas and meeting the people. The view from the cabin was worth the price alone. Spectacular and what a place to watch the sunset. I would recommend this place to friends. Greg and Jill
One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. The house is rustic and a little rough around the edges but that is all accounted for in the price and clear in the listing. The village of Santa Elena is close by and great for dining and shopping. Just string the hammock up on the porch and relax.
The chalet was brilliant. A great space for the whole family, with amazing views. The hosts communicated brilliantly and we had a great time.
The view is honestly just amazing and waking up to it on the mornings we're beautiful.
Great facilities too with a kitchen stocked with equipment and some coffee and bits provided.
Thanks for a great stay!
We just loved this property! After a flight delay we had to travel in the dark which was a bit scary but Stuart was amazing at helping make sure we found the cabin. When we woke up the next morning, we were greeted with the most incredible view, there was even a rainbow. We had everything we needed and enjoyed the incredible sunsets each night. Stuart also took us on a bird sightseeing tour on their farm which was great, we saw so many amazing birds. Close to Santa Elena for restaurants and shopping. Wonderful start to our trip throughout CR.

My family recently stayed there for 2 nights. I have to say the view is unbelievable gorgeous!! The house does feel like standing in the sky from the mountain. All you can see out of the window is the surrounding mountains, the clouds moving and shadows fall into the mountain. Birds in the sky. Sunset is gorgeous! All my family, including two kids at age 5 and 7, totally enjoyed it. Neighbor's dog is a cute plus!
We were completely blown away by this stay - the house is amazing with absolutely incredible views at the edge of a valley. Sunrises and sunsets are unreal. Tons of birds flying by all the time - we saw a lot of vultures and a few magpies, plus some songbirds. Our host invited us to go on a birding walk early in the morning about half an hour's drive from the house, where we saw an incredible amount of amazing species including parrots, parakeets, motmots, manakins, and nighthawks, plus a very friendly donkey. The only thing we had we had trouble with was the hot tub - the hot water heater doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the water demand for the tub. Don't let this dissuade you though, this is a must-stay in the Monteverde region.
Casa Cielo is a unique experience that typifies Costa Rica's laidback lifestyle and joy of the environment. We stayed 2 weeks and were awakened every morning by a pair of the local blue jays banging on the windows. We were visited by a troupe of Capuchin monkeys, a bold, red, tufted ear squirrel and a variety of birds.
A gecko and baby iguana were in the bedroom- never caused problems, it was cool.
Any organic food remains (apple cores, banana peels, watermelon rinds) were thrown out the window (as far as you can) for the wildlife.
The view from balcony is magnificent, looking out over the forest and hills.
One thing that took some getting used to was their septic system (same throughout the country, wherever we went) you DO NOT put ANYTHING- including toilet paper in the toilet. There is a small wastebasket provided for all TP, etc.
If you want to get away from hotels and live more in line with the locals (yet still feel a bit special) THIS is the place to do it! Not only would I recommend it to others, I would cheerfully stay there again!
The location was great and the views spectacular. We enjoyed our time in the house and exploring the area. We did have some meals prepared and they were amazing.
This property was built earlier than some others, and was an amazing find! You feel like you are alone in the cloud forest looking out at the view. The stairs to the bedroom are steep, so be ready for that. The proceeds from this vrbo support the Sustainability Center in Guacimal, so we felt great in supporting their important goals. Cafe Om down 606 in Guacimal was amazing, with real history of the settling of the area. Very nice for vegetarian and vegan foods made from scratch. The vrbo is close to all kinds of activities in Santa Elena and Monteverde, too.
There’s lots of great things about this place. If you want peace and quiet in nature this is the spot. Its a great cabin just far enough off the grid and it’s easy to get to town when needed.
i had such a nice stay at this magical spot. saw beautiful birds and even some monkeys in the distance from the balcony! the views are unmatched.

Beautiful view
Veronica and her sustainability center are doing great things for the community! We showed up to a free salsa lesson, and our kids joined in immediately. Happy that our stay supports a great cause! The location is close to everything and the view is unmatched!
