Monterey Hotels, Orlando

"This is a nice property that has two pools, one on each side of the property. One pool has a water slide and kid area. The other pool has a lazy river. There is an on site cafeteria that has 4 restaurants in it, which is decent and kid friendly. There is also a bowling alley, gift shop and Starbucks on site. Volcano Bay water Park is connected to the property and you get early entry if you stay at the hotel. Transportation to Universal, islands of adventure, and epic universe is on property, easy to use and is free. There is a charge for parking. If you stay here 5 or more nights, you get a food credit which was enough to cover food costs for the entire stay for 2 adults. Overall, it's a great place to stay if you are going to Universal and don't mind a lot of kids running around. I personally don't mind the chaos kids bring, but I know some do so thought I'd mention it. The staff were all excellent from the front desk, to the room attendants to the cafeteria. In fact, the staff is probably their greatest asset and the reason I added an extra day. I didn't really think of it until doing this review but the staff is actually why I enjoyed myself there the most. I never had or heard a single negative thing about any of the staff the entire week I was there. That's extraordinary. Yeah, even with all the amenities, the staff was actually the highlight of the property for me."

"Did not have breakfast, there was none provided. No one told us of any hot tub. Room was not clean, it had long hairs all over bathroom and shower and toilet seat. Staff was friendly and courteous. "

"I would not stay at this hotel again. The overall condition was unacceptable. There was visible mold, stains on the mirrors, and the mattresses were extremely old — the springs made noise every time we moved, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. The exterior was also dirty and poorly maintained. Overall, the cleanliness and upkeep fell far below basic expectations. This experience was worse than many budget hotels I’ve stayed in. I would not recommend this place to anyone."
