Montboillon and surroundings:
A village of nearly 300 inhabitants in the Haute-Saônois region, Montboillon is located on the fringe of the Mont-de-Gy in the heart of the Riolais region and 22 km north of Besançon.
Mainly forested, this village is also crossed by 3 rivers and is home to the Vallon de Fontenelay Regional Nature Reserve, a 42-hectare site protecting a set of marly grasslands and low marshes. The reserve is one of the 13 notable places included in the heritage circuit created by the commune and also includes the church, the fountain and the washhouse.
Among its illustrious inhabitants, Montboillon welcomed Voltaire who stayed there with the Marquise Emilie du Châtelet. The history of the village is highlighted in the book "The history of Montboillon told a century after that of Mr. Adolphe Helle" written by Norbert Latruffe.
The village is on the route of the Via Francigena, a pilgrimage route linking Canterbury to Rome via France and Switzerland.
Montboillon is located 10 km from the Besançon Franche-Comté TGV station.
Among the services offered nearby, the micro-crèche L'Atelier des sens, the inclusive leisure centre The SARAH Association and the Beauti'sInstitut Beauty Institute are present in the town.
