Staff were very helpful in parking our car and showing us to our room. But the room was dark, the bed was the hardest I’ve ever slept on, and the wifi was connected but exceptionally weak. And road noise on first floor was significant.

Excellent hotel the rooms and facilities are extraordinary beautiful, you feel steeped in history. The host is very very friendly and welcoming. Although there is a school next door we were not disturbed by noise at all. It’s about a 20 minute walk to down town which is challenging on the way back as it is up hill. We loved it ..

The hotel was a step back in time. There is nothing modern about the place, yet it's charming. The staff, cleanliness and value made this a great half way stop to Agrigento. We ate breakfast in the court yard at the front of the hotel. The inclusive breakfast was pasteries, yogart and coffee. I heard the rooms at the front of the building were noisy because of the cars foeing by.

Beautiful room and Convenient location For exploring Modica, Ragusa and Scicli. Being just out of the centro craziness was a pleasure. Our only complaint is the A/C is undersized for such a large room, the pallazo and planet would benefit from bringing it up to modern heating and air conditioning design standards.

We stayed in the annexe and not the main hotel building which was 50 metres away . It was a spacious room with good facilities Sara on reception was excellent with help and recommendations . The breakfast was a little sparse and I would have liked some eggs

The room was beautiful and the bathroom was the size of most hotel rooms in Europe. It had a double jacuzzi and a jetted shower. Staff was helpful; breakfast was good; and dinner at their restaurant was delicious.

Exceptional service at the Palazzo Failla.
We arrived at this hotel after being robbed of everything we owned while stopped en route to the hotel. The service they provided to help us get medication, toiletries and clothes and to deal with our damaged vehicle from the robbery was beyond what we expected. I can't say enough good things about them. The hotel property was in an older building but very comfortable and clean. Thank you all again for your help.

The real Sicily
An amazing location and Hotel, typical Italian/Sicilian high end hotel, original in its content. Fantastic accompanying restaurant. Only difficulty is that the Hotel is at the top of the town and quite a walk to the bottom, but there is a local tourist bus. We really enjoyed this place.

Charming family-owned hotel
To stay in this hotel is a truly Sicilian experience. The owner and staff are delightful - appropriately friendly and very helpful. They advised us about trips and booked our evening meals for us in recommended local restaurants. The hotel itself is a beautiful palazzo (the owner's childhood home), situated in the old part of town - Modica Alto. We would certainly return to this hotel.

Palazzo Failla was the highlight of our trip
We could not have had a warmer welcome and the staff were so kind and helpful, from helping to park our hire car, to suggestions on what to see and do. The restaurant is superb. The rooms are charming and if you want to immerse yourself in the Baroque experience, this is the place to be. There are two nice places to eat nearby, one for pizza and the other for traditional Sicilian cuisine including local cheese, meat and honey.

Wonderful, eclectic hotel
This hotel used to be the family residence if the hotel owners. It is wonderful. My rooom had a 4 metre high ceiling which was gloriously d3corated. The furniture was baroque Italian - large and ornately carved and painted. The rom was huge with a tile floor and two enormous sets of French door windows with shutters. The breakfast was great and my dinner in the hotel restaurant was the best meal I have had in Sicily.

Historic hotel in Upper Modica
Enjoyed Palazzo Failla. This is an historic hotel housed in a lovely old building. Room was vast with a huge bed. Reached old-fashioned, but there was good wifi and a flat screen TV. Bathroom was small and only just about adequate. Breakfast was good. There is no restaurant at the hotel, but the same proprietors own the nearby Locanda del Colonnello, which is absolutely excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Recommended for a short stay.

Lovely hotel in a pleasant town. Worth the walk down to see the main church and Cathederal. Don't expect a taxi back but it's only 450 steps up. Hotel has an incredible restaurant, Michelin quality without the price. The hotel never even mentioned it to us, we realized by chance.

Great hotel in Alta Modica
This was a wonderful hotel. The staff was very accommodating. We had a special request created by our change of plans, and they were very helpful and went out of the way to help us resolve it. The hotel is charming and well situated. We stayed in what seems to be the annex - a couple of rooms above their restaurant across the road. Even though they told us the rooms in the main hotel are more "authentic" with more classic furniture, and more air and light, we enjoyed this cozy setting - the room was still very nice, and it was quite, with a large balcony area where I was able to do some work when we had some down time. BTW, the WiFi was excellent - by far the best and fastest we've had in Sicily. The breakfast was not the most extensive buffet we've seen - no hot items such as eggs, but the quality of the food was excellent and everything was very tasty. If you're in Modica, you need to decide if you prefer to stay in Alta Modica or Bassa Modica. If you want to stay in Alta, or if you are fine with either, this is a great place to stay!

Understated elegance
Room was beautifully appointed and bathroom offered space and excellent fittings. Breakfast is offered in a delightfully elegant room with a vaulted ceiling. Staff were friendly and helpful. Frederico found a car space for us and by sheer chance came to our rescue later in the evening after we dined in the lower town - we hoped for a taxi, but there were none to be found. We were making enquiries at a Tabacchi and met Frederico who was happy to drive us back up the steep hills - a real saviour - once you discover Modica you will know why we didn't want the daunting walk back up to the high town.

The owners and staff were wonderfully helpful and friendly - arranging (and negotiating a price) for a taxi to take me to Ragusa for sightseeing, discussing, researching and advising on forms of transport for my onward journey, taking me to the bus stop, explaining how to get to the points of interest in Modica, providing prompt and ready service at breakfast

Nice historic building beautifully restored
Perfectly located gracious hotel with very comfortable and incredibly peaceful rooms with small balcony. Presentation could not be faulted in this hotel & the breakfast spread was beautiful to behold! The staff were tremendously helpful with all aspects of our stay in Modica & surrounds. In fact they made it especially pleasurable and attended to all our requests efficiently and hospitably. Mr Failla himself attended to our car parking arrangements delivering the car to our door from its overnight garage. We were definitely sad to leave this Hotel and its lovely staff.

Lovely hotel
We stayed at the Palazzo Faillia in mid January a very quiet time of the year. Our stay was very pleasant made all the better by the very helpful team at the hotel. This included being picked up at the train station on arrival and dropped at the bus station for our departure as well as being taken to the lower town in the evenings for dinner. We also appreciated their help with directions and recommendations for restaurants. The hotel breakfast was pleasant and the bar a nice place to sit for an aperitif before going out for dinner or a relaxing coffee during the day. The hotel has been delightfully renovated in keeping with the period. Big rooms with high ceilings and a modern bathroom with an excellent shower. As our room faced the street - we did get a little noise from outside as well as echoes from the spacious reception and hall area. None of this was particularly troublesome. Overall we loved our stay!

Excellent hotel with 5* level of service
Unlike most people who do multiple locations we decided to make Modica our base for a 2 week holiday in Sicily so I can give a review based on a far longer stay than many others. I will break it down under various headings; Service - We have never experienced better service despite having stayed in many more expensive hotels. The staff were all friendly and efficient at all times and we made a lot of requests from going to a pharmacy to sort out remedies for a very sore throat, arranging Pilates lessons in a neighbouring town, securing reservations at restaurants through to a very efficient valet car parking service where they found free parking spaces near the hotel and then fetched the car back when you wanted. The free wi-fi is also a lot better than I have experienced elsewhere. Location - This is excellent being about two thirds of the way up the town, it is reasonably quiet and altogether delightful. You need to be aware that Modica is basically built up the side of a steep hill and there are about 400 steps to get to the bottom of the town. The hotel owner offered to pick us up to save the climb back but we preferred to do this to get some exercise. Rooms - The main rooms in the hotel look wonderful but we were in the annex which is up an alley opposite the hotel. It was very comfortable, large, beautifully decorated, quiet and came with a bathroom that is about the size of many double bedrooms in London hotels, covered in marble and equipped with double basins, WC
