Beware of Scams, Overbearing Rules and False Accusations at this property - A Disappointing Stay
I recently stayed at this property and had a very disappointing experience due to the owner's strict rules and a fraudulent charge. While the location and property were as advertised, the owner imposed unreasonable rules, such as leaving the garage remote on the kitchen counter or paying $100, not using the door code too many times to avoid notifications, and leaving a tip.
We were a group of five friends traveling from Denver through Rio Grande and Aspen to Moab on our way to Bryce and Salt Lake City. We booked six accommodations, four through VRBO, including this one. We checked in at 11 PM on May 29th and checked out at 8:15 AM the next day, staying less than 12 hours.
On June 1st, I received an email claiming a $300 charge for smoking in the bedroom, despite it being a non-smoking facility, and alleged we used perfume to cover the smell. This accusation is false. None of us smoke, and we would never smoke indoors. We are all MS graduates and a responsible Indian group.
It seems the owner tried to scam us, possibly due to stereotypes or to cover cleaning costs. I blocked my card and reported the incident to VRBO customer support, who assured me they would contact the owner and follow up.
I strongly advise against booking this property. If you do, be extremely cautious to avoid being scammed by the owner. This experience has marred what should have been a pleasant trip.
