The Abiquiu Inn

"Beautiful room, we enjoyed the fireplace the most. The flashlight key rings were helpful in the pitch black night. Thank you for the guest laundry room. A few things to improve if anyone in leadership reads this: Housekeeping missed us despite my attempts to request housekeeping at the front desk. It might help to have a door sign to clean the room, there was none. The single small sink was not good. Water splashed forward and sideways no matter how you tried. It’s just not the right sink design for a bathroom. Also we had a few spiders in our room, understandable because of the wilderness around and the rain. But perhaps some pest control might be considered. The staff were wonderful, especially the restaurant staff."

"Our stay at the Alpaca Barnhaus was wonderful overall, with all the comforts and amenities could have wanted. We had a few communications missteps due to spotty cell service, but our host worked hard to smooth the rough spots (absence of GPS navigation, texting, and phone service). Plan ahead."

"This is a beautifully built house with stunning views of the Abiquiu Lake to the west. We really enjoyed dining outdoors and were treated to a double rainbow one early evening. The sunsets were lovely to spectacular. Night fall brought out the brilliant canopy of stars across the dark sky. And so quiet.The house is nicely furnished with regional decor, historical books lie about, and a well-equipped kitchen lies within the great room.There are no boat rentals at the marina. But if one wishes to enjoy boating on the lake, just google rental/delivery options for that area. We did bring a small inflatable dinghy, but the lake shore by the house is strewn with boulders that could make access difficult for older people."

"The home was beautiful, clean, and the views were stunning!! The stars were amazing, the skylight was fabulous for looking at stars at night. The kitchen was very well stocked! The challenges we experienced: the directions were not completely accurate. We were told when we got to the property there would be signs guiding us, there were no visible signs at all. We managed, barely, to get there on our own info. The instructions need updating and signage would help tremendously. There is no AC, which was fully disclosed in the listing. However, with no AC it is more important than usual that the windows function and open properly. None of the windows in the bedroom opened leaving it a bit warm for sleeping."

"Casita de Arrebol is much more than a beautiful place to stay—it’s an experience in itself. The house smelled amazing from the moment we arrived, and every detail reflected exquisite taste, from the bedding, pillows and throws to the furnishings. The casita felt warm, peaceful and artistic, beautifully suited to the high-desert setting.The kitchen was exceptionally well stocked with appliances, cookware, utensils and supplies, and the huge washer and dryer were especially appreciated during our longer stay.The gorgeous backyard was alive with birds (including three varieties of hummingbirds). I became so intrigued by our bird neighbors that I downloaded the Merlin app to identify them all.Pedernal is a commanding presence in the landscape, and the kitchen window offered a constantly changing portrait as the high-desert light moved across it. Walking the labyrinth was another deeply memorable part of our stay.This is also a creative space. The mini-Martin guitar and the setting sparked ideas for music, while the dark skies and adobe architecture made night-sky photography especially rewarding.The location is ideal for exploring Ghost Ranch, Abiquiú and Christ in the Desert Monastery while still feeling wonderfully secluded. Communication with the owners was excellent throughout—warm, attentive and responsive.Casita de Arrebol became one of the highlights of our trip to New Mexico: a place of beauty, reflection and inspiration."
