"We got this room last minute as we were due to leave our Air B&B and wanted to stay another night. This was basically the only thing available. If Im in that situation again, Id stay but I would not make this my base camp for days of hiking BBNP. No tv and no wifi. Room smelled of something weird. Uncomfortable bed. No need to bash it as it was a get me by."
"This is a great property for visiting Terlinga or Big Bend. We travel with pets and they had a small fenced yard available. We loved the porch and pool in room. I would book this exact room again when in the area. While we dod not cook while there- the cantina does have full size refrigerators and plates etc. The property is clean and the hosts communicated well. Loved it"
"We enjoyed our stay here. The only issue is we had a room on the top floor and there is no elevator. Fortunately there was an employee in the lobby and he carried our suitcases up. (We are nomads so all our clothes are in our suitcases wherever we go) lol.
The bakery/sandwich shop was delicious. We had dinner at the restaurant one night as well. The food was very good but it is pretty expensive.
We did not use the amenities as we spent our time at Big Ben National Park :)"
"Quick response to a needed light bulb.
Nice shared kitchen area. Well equipped.
Nice roomy shared shower.
Door to the room was a bit low.
The provided bath robes were a nice touch.
You can walk to the Starlight.
Air condition worked great and was quiet. "
The Chisos Suite - overlooking the Chisos Mountain range.
8/10 Good
"Clean cute room. Great view. Would give higher mark but for the price the room should have its own mini fridge & coffee maker. The outdoor community fridge & coffee maker is nice but not convenient day or night. Only one very short shower and hot water ran out."
"Perfect for my husband and I. Walking distance to Starlight Lounge. Nice outdoor seating for morning coffee and afternoon cocktail. I loved the outdoor shower because it was beautiful weather and a groovy little space. My husband declined to use it. To each his own! AC worked great and we really had no problems with anything. Would definitely stay again"
"Our group of 7 had an amazing stay at The Perch! The house was so much fun to stay in. The view was beautiful and the house had everything we needed! The A/C and showers worked great, beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped. The drive up was an adventure and I would recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle. After some afternoon thunderstorms on our last day there, we were not able to make the drive to the house in our 4-wheel drive ford expedition rental car and ended up leaving it in a safe spot and walking up to the house. We had no idea desert mud could be sooo slippery! "
"Ten Bits Ranch was, by far, the coolest place we’ve ever stayed. The cabin and property is absolutely adorable!! We (my son and I) stayed in the Post Office. It was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The bed was so comfortable, there was plenty of water provided, the wifi was strong, bathroom is roomy, and there was more than enough space for my son to sleep on his air mattress without taking up all the floor space. The owners contacted me several times before and during our stay with all the information needed. I cooked dinner in the Cantina one night and found everything needed (utensils, pans, stove, oven, etc.). Watching the sun set and rise was a beautiful experience. We brought in our own wood and had a lovely fire at the fire pit and enjoyed the beauty all around us. I cannot even express how much we loved this place and how highly we recommend it!! I’ll definitely be back!!
The only negative which has nothing to do with the owners and would not deter me from going back is the North County Road. We had a storm (which is very rare) come through which made the road a little rougher and we had to pass through water running across the road in several spots. The only suggestion is to keep a watch on the weather and if you don’t have a vehicle that sits a little higher off the ground, wait for the storm to pass and watch water levels when entering the access . Do not let this one thing keep you from visiting this amazing place! "
