"The hotel is clean and most staff are polite and helpful. The young man who checked us in [around midnight] was pretty rude. Maybe a bad day. The biggest problem was our room had no hot water. We reported that the next morning and was told someone from maint. would look into it. He got us hot water in the bathroom sink, but not the shower. We showered for 2 days with cold water. When we asked for a new room we were told they were fully booked! Not true. Actually, we found they had no room with 2 beds. After we complained on the 3rd day, they finally "upgraded" us to a king and pull-out sofa with "no upcharge," their idea of making things right. In the middle of the 4th night, the desk called saying security needed to check the smoke detectors. A uniformed guy came in, removed and reinstalled the covers and left. No further explanation nor apology for interrupting our sleep. Not the best hotel experience, but other family members staying there had a much better stay. We had a great time in Puerto Rica, despite the hotel. "

"El San Juan is a classic close to airport and with good pools and beach. Property is a little worse for wear and incessant bass music unwelcome. Should have a quiet adult pool. Service is slow at best."

"When arrived instructions were clearly listed for check in, upon walking into the property we were unsure if the room had been cleaned, under the beds has tissues and some a tips. Towels were not clean that were provided. This lead us to have to purchase our own. Water to shower was SCORCHING HOT and unbearable. The water will quickly cycle from cold to hot to BURNING hot with the only way to fix it was to shut off the water wait a few mins and do it all over again until shower was over. I reached out multiple times over my stay and didn’t get consistent responses regarding fixing the water, or the WiFi that was not working for the duration of my stay. In short, what I paid for was not ideal and caused for the stay to be more of a hassle. "

"Upon check in, no electricity/no power.I asked when will the power be back on, I was expecting some kind of backup generator to turn on the power, but the Hotel attendant said there is no expected time of when the power would return. I was not offered a refund or any accommodations and I was expected to just wait until the power comes back on. The hotel is not suitable for any one to stay under these conditions and its clear the hotel barely cares to help the customers. They just want money. Also door codes to the room were announced aloud to the lobby and guests, Nothing about the exchange of door access codes felt secure. "

"The overall stay was okay. The apartment was fairly clean, bed and pillows were a bit hard. It’s located in a gated community which give the feeling of safety but is only ideal if you have a rental car. The neighborhood felt safe. We even walked from the Main Street to the apartment and felt okay. I wish I had done more research about the location as I thought things were closer based on the description. T-Mobile District is 25-30 mins away driving, Condado Beach 23mins, Old San Juan is 30-35 mins. Uber can’t come directly to the apartment since they would need to call the host to open the gate so if you’re taking uber you’ll need to meet them at the front (7 mins walk max).The host is not very responsive, the only message I got from him was the pre arrival. Messaged him several times throughout the stay but never got a response. The gate code didn’t work upon check in, I called but no answer, so had to get out of the uber and figured out getting in then walked to the apartment. There is a remote that opens the main gate, since we were leaving at 5am I wanted to arrange getting out since I didn’t want to risk heading to the gate with the hope someone was leaving at that hour and I could go through. I messaged the host from the night before so we could decide on what to do, there was never a response so I decided to take the remote and left it at the gate and send him a picture. There is no pedestrian walk through for the gate so the remote is always needed to go through. "
