The best area to stay in Melauri is the town centre, particularly around the main square and the streets immediately surrounding it.

This central area is the heart of Melauri, offering easy access to local amenities and a real sense of the town's daily life. You'll find the local market, several traditional Georgian restaurants, and small shops selling local produce and crafts. The main square often hosts community events and is a pleasant place to relax and observe.

For couples looking for a relaxed and authentic experience, staying in the town centre is ideal. You'll be able to stroll hand-in-hand to local eateries, enjoy the local wines, and easily explore the town's historic buildings and churches on foot. It's a convenient base for exploring the Imereti region's monasteries and vineyards.

Families with older children will also appreciate the town centre's convenience. Everything is within walking distance, reducing the need for transport, and there are often open spaces in the square for children to play.

The best time to visit Melauri is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to October) when the weather is most pleasant for exploring.

During these months, you'll find comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 20-25°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and vineyard tours. The landscape is lush in spring, with blooming flowers, while autumn brings vibrant foliage and the grape harvest season, offering unique cultural experiences. This period also avoids the peak summer heat and the colder, wetter winter months.

For those planning to explore the surrounding Imereti region, including the Prometheus Cave or Gelati Monastery, these shoulder seasons provide excellent conditions for travel and sightseeing without the larger crowds often found in mid-summer.
