The bed had a 6 cm foam mattress on a solid wood box base so very uncomfortable to sit on never mind sleep on, but still appeared to sag in middle. No reception, 2 flights of stairs and main door left open, so less than secure. Unsafe and unhealthy."

"The apartment was great - in an excellent location close to shops and restaurants in the village square and within easy walking distance from the old city. The apartment itself had everything we needed and included a nice private balcony which added to the ambience. We would definately choose to stay again if we are back in Carcassonne. "What a fantastic hotel! It's beautiful, the gardens and pool are lovely and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Room was large and airy, and the bed was very comfortable. Fantastic shower. Despite being next to the Basilica no noise got into the room, even when the bells rang! The food in La Barbacane was delicious. Excellent location, great as a base to explore Carcassonne on foot."
