Wonderful stay

We were welcomed as soon as we arrived by our lovely hosts. It really was a very peaceful getaway. The gite is well equipped and the shared pool, games room and mini gym are a great feature.

Lovely house

Had a wonderful time at the house. Comfortable and clean. The grandchildren loved the pool and our two dogs were more than happy with the garden at the rear of the house, which was very private. The host were very helpful. Thank you for a lovely holiday Vince and Lynda UK

Lovely property but not dog secure

There were positives and negatives. The owners were very friendly, helpful and gave us fresh veg from their kitchen garden. The gite itself was nicely decorated, modern and with plenty of amenities provided. The listing was misleading in a few areas. The listing said dog friendly yet the owners said they were scared of our Springer Spaniel when he barked. The fences were of varying heights, some not high enough to keep the dog in and there was no front gate, thankfully there was a private drive. This meant that much of the time the dog had to be kept on a lead. Dog friendly and dog secure are a world apart. The listing said the pool was shared with the owners which was fine but on several days there was as many as 9 family members there which was a stretch too far. There were a lot of flies, which was understandable being near a farm. The best way to keep flies out was to keep the doors shut, making the gite very hot. AC would be advantageous. Overall, not what was promised.

Un véritable havre de paix !

Nous avons passé un agréable moment dans ce gite qui est très bien agencé et sans vis-à-vis. Les espaces extérieurs et activités proposées sont très bien entretenus. L'environnement est calme. La présence des propriétaires (sympathiques et accueillants) n'est pas du tout dérangeante car ils savent se faire très discret. Notre sejour nous a beaucoup plu. Nous avons pu découvrir cette belle région et ses alentours. Nous y retournerons avec grand plaisir.

Idyllische ruhige Lage

Die Ferienunterkunft liegt in herrlicher und ruhigen Lage umgeben von Feldern. Die Vermieter sind sehr nett und bemüht das man einen schönen Aufenthalt hat und geben Tipps für Unternehmungen. Der Pool sorgt bei warmen Temperaturen für eine schöne Abkühlung. Um was anderes zu sehen und zu Unternehmen muss man immer etwas fahren. Die Stadt bietet Lebensmittelgeschäft.

A lovely week in rural France

Urlaub auf dem Land

Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und reichlich mit frischem Gemüse versorgt. Die Ausstattung des Objektes ließ keine Wünsche offen. Thierry und Cecille halfen uns sogar beim Ausdrucken von Online-Tickets. Die Umgebung ist traumhaft ruhig und es kamen sogar Kühe bis an den Zaun. Alles in allem war es ein perfekter Urlaub.

Heerlijk rustige gite

Wij hebben hier tijdens Oud en Nieuw verbleven om aan het vuurwerk lawaai te ontsnappen. Onze hond is uiterst bang voor vuurwerk. Zowel wij als de hond hebben een heerlijk rustig Oud en Nieuw gehad in dit zeer nette en gezellige huisje. De eigenaar woont ernaast en is zeer behulpzaam met alles. Een aanrader!

un vrai cocon au milieu de la campagne

Le gite est un vrai tresor niché au milieu des champs! Super équipé, rien ne manque! Les hôtes sont accueillant, charmants, et partage avec nous leur coin de paradis sur terre! Même s'il a fait mauvais temps, on s'en est pas aperçu !

Ländlichen Idylle

Es würde uns ein sehr warmherziger Empfang durch Thierry bereit. Er hat einen sehr schönen Garten und Hof angelegt. Hier liegt auch der schöne Pool. Thierry hat um das Haus kleine Gewächshäuser angelegt und lädt Gäste dazu ein sein Gemüse zu probieren. Das Haus hat alles, was man für seinen Urlaub braucht. Es ist sehr schön und gemütlich eingerichtet, es gibt 3 große Fernseher sowie WLAN und Netflix. Im oberen Geschoss sind zwei gemütlich angelegte Zimmer, mit bequemen Betten. Dadurch dass es ein altes umgebautes Haus ist, muss man gelegentlich bei dem ein oder anderen Balken den Kopf einziehen. Für Menschen mit Gehschwierigkeiten, ist die Raumspartreppe nach oben evtl. Auch ein Problem. Thierry steht immer mit Rat und Tat zur Seite, man kann sich gut auf englisch unterhalten, wenn man kein Französisch kann. Andererseits hat man genügt Privatsphäre. Das Anwesen liegt ländlich, man braucht schon ein Auto zum Einkaufen oder für Ausflüge, und man sollte sicher keine Angst vor Fliegen haben, von denen es ( sicher Je nach Jahreszeit) reichlich gibt. Es ist sicher nicht der touristische hot spot, aber es gibt in der Gegend genügend zu unternehmen und zu sehen. Oder man entspannt einfach am Pool. Auch Brüssel ist nicht zu weit entfernt. Wer entspannte, ruhige Ferien sucht ist hier sicher richtig. Wir würden sich wiederkommen.

We hebben het heerlijk rustig gehad met oud en nieuw. Geen vuurwerk dus rustige honden en baasjes.Mooi uitzicht en prima vakantiehuis voor 6 personen ( en 3 honden)..

Fabulous holiday!

We spent a lovely week's holiday at the gite with our 2 children aged 8 and 4. Thierry and Cecile were very welcoming. The accommodation is of high standard both inside and out. It's a real home from home. Very well equipped, clean, comfortable, good cooking facilities and we all loved being able to access Netflix on the TV! It was great being able to use the outdoor pool in the beautiful sunny, warm weather and we also used the ping pong table one evening. Thierry was very kind in letting us sample his home grown tomatoes and cucumber. We enjoyed a few family days out to Lac du Val Joly, l'etang de blangy, Maubeuge zoo and the Parc d'isle Jacques Braconnier at St Quentin. All great places to take children. We would highly recommend!

Jeder Zeit wieder

gemütliche Unterkunft auf dem Land, Haus bietet genügend Platz für 6 Personen, liebevoll und modern eingerichtet. Gastgeber sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Für Familien mit kleinen Kindern ideal. Unsere Kinder haben sich rundum wohlgefühlt. Für uns war es eine tolle und erholsame Woche.

Quiet, Peaceful, Relaxing & a great base for cycling

Lovely old building with a nice modern interior. Well presented everything you need on hand. Excellent to have a washing machine & tumble dryer. Owner has a well stocked veg garden and supplies various fresh veg (marrows were amazing). Lovely heated pool, private back garden is an evening sun trap. Lovely outside eating area. Good traditional charcoal BBQ provided. An excellent base for anyone wanting to go cycling - we did some great routes in France and also into Belgium.

Beautifully renovated farmhouse in gently rolling French countryside. Ideal for families.

An extremely well appointed three-bedroom farm conversion in lovely countryside. The property is within easy reach of Calais and The small town of Avesnes-sur-Helpe is a short drive away with everything one might need. The owners live next door and are very helpful and welcoming. We were there in the winter, but it was warm and cosy with a modern wood stove. Thierry has done a fine job of converting the property to a very high standard, both in decor and equipment (hi-tech appliance fans will be in heaven!). We could see that in summer it would be a lovely place for families with children as there are lots of out-door areas for eating and playing, but even in the heart of winter the views across the fields are lovely and the steeple of the church in Avesnes can be seen in the distance. It's about an hour to the historic Belgian city of Mons and there are plenty of other day trips to go on (the Matisse gallery in Le Cateau-Cambresis is well worth a visit). Overall an excellent choice for up to six people - though anyone over five and a half feet tall needs to aware of the low beams upstairs!

Great gite, great hosts.

We were given a warm welcome by Thierry and knew that he was there if we had any questions (one or two) or problems (none) during our stay. The gite is very comfortable with all mod cons. We loved the kitchen garden and were lucky enough to enjoy tomatoes, cucumbers, a yellow courgette, radishes and many herbs during our stay. The location was good, lovely countryside and a short drive to nearby shops which had everything we wanted. We visited Chimay in Belgium during our stay too. We were not blessed with the best weather but still enjoyed the outdoor pool and had several barbecues, we also made use of the table tennis table and Netflix on the TV!

Très jolie location dans un superbe environnement de campagne

Accueil très agréable. Présence et disponibilité discrètes et attentionnées des propriétaires même si ceux-ci étaient parfois un peu bruyants (à notre goût) à la piscine lors de réceptions familiales. Descriptif de l'annonce tout à fait correct. Confort et équipement complet et moderne. Literie soignée. Propreté réelle. Cadre campagnard superbe avec vue directe et appaisante de 2 côtés sur les prairies (et les vaches). Petite suggestion personnelle : au moins une fenêtre avec moustiquaire aurait été appréciée pour permettre une aération (surtout le soir) sans accueillir les insectes inévitables dans cet environnement. A recommander.
