This lovely cottage was exactly what we wanted: quiet, peaceful and cozy. My daughter particularly enjoyed the connection with nature and ability to walk through the nearby fields filled with grazing sheep (we got permission from neighbors first!). Being on the edge of the Peak District made day trips to nearby attractions easy, although I'll never get used to the speed at which local drivers travel on those narrow roads! Warning, as a true cottage surrounded by nature: there were quite a few spiders in the house (we didn't disturb them and let them do their job of catching flying critters that would actually bother us).

Lovely quirky cottage.
Lovely quirky cottage. Beautiful area that feels remote but isn't. Tons of equipment if you want to self cater. When we got there there was a two pint of milk in the fridge and some lovely shortbread biscuits.Minor niggle, lovely big bath but unable to get enough hot water to make the most of it. The heated towel rail was not enough to keep the large bathroom warm in cold weather. This wouldn't stop us going back. We loved it

So very cosy and comfortable with a great garden, but with a few teeny niggles the owner is probably aware of, but which did not mar our stay (ie toilet roll holder not fixed to wall properly in bathroom and hanging at a jaunty angle; some broken floor tiles in bathroom; saucepans needed cleaning before use (which seems common in most places we stay, so we sort of expect that now!); intermittently flickering light bulb in main bedroom (ceiling lights) - presume bulb just needs replacing; couldn't fully use one of the bedside tables as no knob on the bottom drawer...) Nevertheless, we would happily visit again - perhaps for longer. The wifi is more than adequate given the cottage's location; there are loads of walks and places to go and things to do for every taste. It's located in a wonderful hamlet with a glorious surrounding area (the owner's sheep are lovely, as is the local pheasant!). All in all, we can highly recommend Ivy Cottage.
