"Room was clean but dated and could do with a refresh. Evening meal was excellent, I had the steak & Malbec pie and it is one of the best pies I have ever eaten. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss, there were two of us and one wanted black pudding and one didn’t but neither got any, nor did we get the fried bread, there were only two juices available, orange and apple (I think) but the orange juice ran out and not replenished although there were staff around. You could have tea or coffee by request but only one latte or cappuccino, there were no cereals, fruit or danish etc which you would expect from a hotel chain such as this (Marstons). However the staff, especially at dinner, were absolutely fantastic, always on hand to help and not too overbearing with the usual ‘is your meal ok’ type scenario. They are a credit to the company. The reason for the 3 stars is the room needing updating and the breakfast."

"Blue Sky cottage was lovely, just right for 2 people. Bed comfortable and nice shower. Lovely walk through park to centre."

"There was only one member of staff there over our 2 day stay & she was really nice and helpful (she seemed to be covering reception, housekeeping & kitchen). Got to say all the public areas could do with a good hoover and the skylight in our room was covered in green algae. Our room was clean (apart from the skylights) but small. Breakfast was really poor for the price we paid. Hotel in general needs a good update as has loads of potential."

"The stay at Sheriff Lodge,Matlock was absolutely excellent.Ziz the Propietor goes above and beyond in every aspect.My Partner and I stayed 20th April- 22nd April,the latter being my Birthday. Ziz popped a Birthday Card on the Breakfast Table discreetly with amazing food on offer and excellently cooked wvery time.Her local knowledge was also above and beyond juxtapose her Hospitality and attentiin to all details. "
