About this property
Beautiful Home Near Marquette Mountain and Minutes From Everything. Est. 2008.
Cliffs Ridge is so-named because you can see its rooftop from what used to be Cliffs Ridge Run at the top of Chair #1 at Marquette Mountain, formerly Cliffs Ridge Ski Area. There is no apostrophe in 'Cliffs' because it was originally named after the Cliffs Dow Company. The exposed beams in the roof and Great Room are actually recycled from the old Tracy Mine in Ishpeming.
Part of the beauty of enjoying Cliffs Ridge is its personality and warmth —you can enjoy family and friends without the commercial feeling of a hotel. With the great kitchen space you can enjoy family dining without the expense of going out to eat for every meal.
Fully furnished, it is a wonderful place to rejuvenate and spend time with the ones you love. Relax in front of the electronic fireplace after a great day of skiing, curl up and watch a movie in the comfortable seating in the living room, enjoy drinks on the back deck after a day at the beach, or read a book in one of the private bedrooms.
Cliffs Ridge has four separate bedrooms. "Superior": King-size bed, master bath, sitting area, access to private back deck, futon, 42" Roku TV and Spectrum cable; "Big Bay": bunk-bed room with two singles; "Northwoods" Queen bed with 32" flat screen TV and DVD player; and "Chalet": Queen bed with 32" flat screen TV and door to outside. "Northwoods" and "Chalet" have French doors with blinds and curtains separating them; these can be opened or closed depending on your preference.
There is an additional bathroom on the floor with the living room, dining and kitchen area.
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything necessary to feed a crowd including two crock pots, turkey roaster and many nice pots and pans. There is a propane grill on the upper deck year-around. The back deck has access to the fire pit and front walkway, and also has a second grill and bar area every season except Winter.
This year-around vacation home is the perfect spot for family reunions, ski vacations, NMU parent activity weekends, wedding parties, hiking weekends, Brewfest, Pictured Rocks touring, golf vacations and more. Our hope is that your family can enjoy it the way we have for 37 years — and that it can become your Marquette home-away-from-home as well!
The Marquette area has 35 miles of interconnected paved bike trails and miles of mountain biking trails as well—accessible directly from the house. The South Trail Head is right next to the Ski Hill as well. Cliffs Ridge is also two miles from Blueberry Ridge Cross-Country Ski Trails.
You can reach the snowmobile trails directly from the house using Michigan State Highway 553 right-away—two miles to the south to County Road 480 or one mile north to the ski hill. There is also a Kwik Trip gas station and excellent bar/restaurant at that corner commonly referred to as the Crossroads. Once you get to the Crossroads you can pretty much get anywhere in the UP via the trail system.

Our host Cat, was very informative with directions ahead of time and kept in touch prior to our chexk-in timeline, due to unforseen snow removal issues. Amenities were great. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, furnishing very comfy. Bedrooms and bathrooms very clean and comfortable. Very nice bath linens. It's a very comfortable home!
This is a great home for a family or friends bigger group Stay. Convenient location close to town, ski hills and Bike trails. Well stocked with everything a family needs. We enjoyed our stay.
We came to Marquette for work (6 of us) and chose to stay in this house because of the amenities and location, it did not disappoint! The house is well appointed, clean and the setting is beautiful! The home owners are nice and really care about you having a great stay. Staying here made our work trip great!
This was our choice as opposed to hotels for the NMU graduation. Plenty of space for everyone, and allowed us to cook, play games and spend time with each other.
We needed a place to stay close to the Marquette Mountain for My son's regional ski meet. It was the perfect place to come back prepare dinner and relax!
We stayed here for my daughter’s orientation for NMU. The home was clean and comfortable. The host was responsive and helpful! The home is close to NMU and was convenient for us to go back and forth. you!
This home is a gem and a wonderful layout for families! Honestly, pictures do not do it justice! It has everything imaginable for you and more. It is in a private location and feels like you are in a cabin in the woods even though you are close to everything and have quick access to stores, etc. We created so many sweet memories and would love to return! The house is immaculate and the decorations darling. The hosts are lovely and very responsive. We had a crazy storm while we were there and they checked in to make sure we were ok! Highly recommend!!
Cat & Rob were great hosts, accommodating and very quick in answering all of our questions! The house was conveniently located for us, close to the many mountain bike trails and a short drive to town. More than enough space for us, which was great because spending a full week together you do sometimes need a bit of privacy 😉. Traffic noise starts early in the morning, and because we were there for part of a holiday weekend, it was fairly loud on Friday & Saturday night. Enjoyed the fire pit and the mattresses were as comfortable as what we have at home. Overall, good place to stay for a summer vacation, really reasonable compared to the summer hotel/motel rates in town.
We were very pleased with our stay. There was lots of space inside and out, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The firepit was great; we roasted marshmallows two nights. The location is quiet (aside from minor road noise that was never a problem), while still being a short drive to town.
Two things worth noting:
The two bedrooms with queen beds have French doors between them, and one has gaps around the door while the other has a large gap between the hallway wall and the ceiling, so light leaks into and between those rooms. Bring a sleep mask if that's a concern.
We hadn't realized ahead of time that all the bedrooms (not just the master bedroom) are downstairs while the kitchen, dining room, and living room are upstairs. It wasn't a big inconvenience, but be aware if your party includes someone who has difficulty with stairs.
Cliff's Ridge is a very clean and spacious home, perfect for a group, and we loved that we could bring our dog. We were all very comfortable here, a great family get together!
The only issue was you can hear the traffic, but other than that, it was a great stay.
The house was in a wonderful location. Everything was very clean. The beds were comfortable and the place was so roomy that we were all able to stretch out and do our own thing.
