About this property
Sunset Mtn Lodge! Hot tub+Fire pit, Fireplace, Hiking, Private, Close to Town!
Welcome to beautiful Sunset Mountain Lodge, a 3-bedroom (plus a loft), two-bath home, on a secluded six acres of property with stunning sunset views. Relax and unwind on the large porch overlooking the mountains, enjoy hiking on the property, soak in the hot tub, or roast marshmallows by the fire pit. The house is close to many area attractions, grocery stores, and great restaurants, with downtown Spruce Pine and Burnsville nearby. This is the perfect mountain getaway!
The space:
There are two bedrooms on the main floor (one with a king bed and the second with a queen bed), a loft area with two twin beds, and a room downstairs with a queen bed. A full bathroom is on the main floor and a second full bathroom is downstairs.
The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils, and all the essential cooking items you’ll need; and a gas grill is also available for use. The dining area is large enough for eight people, with three bar stools for additional seating. The home has a gas log fireplace in the living room, and a fire pit outside for the best of both worlds. A hot tub that is regularly maintained and cleaned is on the downstairs patio.
The house is peaceful and quiet, with the sound of nature all around you. There are hiking opportunities throughout the property, and even a creek just below the house that you can take a quick hike to and explore.
And while it may feel like you are in the middle of nowhere while you are at the home, this mountain getaway is close to several nearby towns and attractions and is the perfect location for day trips to Mount Mitchell, Roan Mountain, Asheville, Linville Falls, and more. Spruce Pine is less than 10 minutes away, Burnsville is 10 minutes away, and you can hop on the Blue Ridge Parkway just 15 minutes from the house and drive the scenic road, stopping at overlooks and heading to your mountain destinations.
This is a great home away from home that is well maintained, clean, and has everything you’ll need to make memories, relax, and enjoy the beauty of the mountains.
Guest access:
Guests have full access to the entire property during your stay, with complete privacy and no homeowner on the premise. Prior to your reservation dates, you will be provided with a code to access the keys at the home, so you can come and go as you please. The home is located on a secluded six acres of land. There is no shared yard, patio, or other area (this is not an apartment, duplex, guest house, or tiny house…but an entire home just for you).

Comfortable, easy-to-relax-in cabin! Layout was spacious for our group of four. Truly on minutes from Spruce Pine, and a great hub for all the artists we visited. Highly recommend!
This was a great home for my family with two adult daughters and son-in-law to stay along with our dogs. It has the best view of the sunset anyone could ask for. We enjoyed this each evening from the wonderful deck with really nice comfortable furniture. It is nicely decorated with cool artwork, pottery, and other items. We used all of the great amenities! Cooked on the grill, smores at the fire pit, family ate together at the large beautiful table, explored the small stream nearby. Overall, it was a great place that suited our family perfectly.
This cabin is tucked away far enough to feel remote and yet within close driving distance to Spruce Pine and Burnsville. One of the bedrooms is an open loft and there is a shared bathroom on the main level. The other bathroom is off of a basement bedroom. Some logistical things to keep in mind for families. Overall, very clean and private. A great home base to explore the area from and to retreat to.
painted skies touching mountains during peak fall color
Loved the remote location at the end of a one lane road that required a turn around area. It's critical you drive a vehicle with good ground clearance to access this perfect mountain lodge, low body car owners will not be happy with the final 1/3 mile drive. That being said, I'm just 24 hours home from our visit and already missing the mountain views - morning fog filled valleys giving way to purple & blue sky topped with pink/red/orange/golden yellow. And the reverse in the evenings with stars added. Lodge had all we needed except food/drink, our personal belongings and wood for the fire pit. Enjoyed the hot tub after long hikes, deck for views/grilling and kitchen for many cooked meals. We chose well with this well accommodated property!
A hidden gem! Really struggling with leaving a review because of how great our experience was and how popular this place should be. The loft area with all of books was great for our kids. If we find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely stay there.
This property has everything you need for relaxing and more! Beautiful decor, comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, beautiful views, and amazing hot tub. We had a great time and would highly recommend this property.
This property was fantastic! Very secluded and comfortable mountain home. The view was beautiful! Quiet and relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for. Be aware the driveway is tight, only really fits one vehicle. There is another parking area up above if you have a second vehicle. The property manager communicated well and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again.
What a lovely spot to rent, great view, perfect set up, and super clean. Our friend retreat was perfect here. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. We all agreed this would be great to rent again, thanks!
Everything was great--clean, secluded location, hot tub, mountain vistas from the back deck, quick communications and replies from property manager. Definitely a great place to get away and reduce your connectivity a bit.
Perfect place to getaway. Private, great view, hot tub, plenty of space inside. This is a great place to spend family time...they even allowed our dogs to come which saved us a ton in boarding fees. Absolutely worth it to check this place out.
The. cabin has lovely views in a tranquil and quiet location. Tons of space and a well-supplied kitchen. We enjoyed sitting on the front deck overlooking the mountains or gazing at the night sky. We also enjoyed hiking on the mountain and waterfall hikes along and near the Parkway. We can recommend Suddreth Automotive in Spruce Pine in case you run into car problems during your vacation, as we did.
We loved our stay! The house was so secluded, peaceful, and quiet. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The amenities were top notch. Ours kids really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub after long days of hiking and sight seeing. We also enjoyed all of the board games that were provided. So many things to do within a short driving distance. We will most definitely be returning!
House is off the grid, which we liked with creak running through. Very Clean with nice hot tub. only 5 miles to town. downstairs had damp odor, which could be solved with a dehumidifier. Since we all stayed in upstairs 2 bedrooms not a problem. Great long range mountain views from kitchen, dining area and living room/deck.
Overall this was a great choice, every year we travel into the mountains to enjoy the fall colors and explore local attractions. After our first day my wife and I agreed that this was the best one yet. The view from the balcony was as good as it gets, the property is isolated enough that you feel far out there without being unreasonably far from places like Crabtree falls, the orchard at Alta Pass and Mt. Mitchell to name a few. The last quarter mile or so of road leading up to it is fairly adventurous but any typical car can make it (weather permitting). The house was very clean, well stocked and cozy. Can't go wrong with this one.
The following issues occurred at our ~1k rental:
- The house was damp and sticky and the basement was uninhabitable because of the musty, dank, wet smell. We did locate the dehumidifier in the basement but it was completely filthy and covered in mold. (Based on reviews, prior guests had complained about this so Pristine Vacation Rentals clearly knew and hadn't addressed it.)
- The floor was *dirty*
- Some of the “clean” cups and plates in the cupboard had crusted food and drink stuck to them
- Black curly hair was on the mattress when we stripped the sheets in the morning
- The fireplace didn't work
- The TV didn't work
- One of the kitchen stools was broken
- A chaise was broken and buckled when you sat on it because a wheel was completely detached and had been propped back up.
When this was relayed to Pristine Vacation Rentals they asked us why we didn't let them know so they could clean.. we were there for one full day, we kept discovering issues gradually, and we were also exhausted from grieving the loss of a loved one which is why we went to the mountains in the first place. Were they going to spend the entire day we were there cleaning the house that was already supposed to be "pristine"? We conveyed this and never heard back. So disappointed.
