    How does the house work?
-While the house is off-grid, you still have every want and need covered like any luxury house (electricity, traditional bathroom/toilet, shower, wifi internet, etc.). In fact, you'd have a hard time even knowing the house was off-grid without knowing ahead of time. But you can feel good staying here knowing you have chosen an eco-conscious home for your vacation.
-The 1-way mirrors work using differences in light and dark. During the day, it's lighter outside so nobody can see in. At night, if you have all the lights on, it would be possible to see through the glass (except in the bathroom which has solid tinting). However we have designed the house on its own 15 acres elevated 5 feet and surrounded by trees such that there would never be anybody nearby to look in. So you have no worries even at night. You are completely private.
-There is a single burner electric stove top and cookware, a counter top smart oven and utensils should you want to never leave and cook in house. In fact we offer a variety a tasty prepped gourmet meals to simply insert into the kitchen smart robot oven to do the cooking for you. It couldn't be easier. These meals are a reasonable added cost, but a pretty amazing one we think. Chocolate lava cake? Chocolate croissants? Lemon butter salmon anyone? Lots to choose from. You'll never have to leave the confines of luxury if you don't want to.
-We use a projector and pull down screen for tv and movies which effectively works like a 70" HD television. However you will need to log into your own Netflix/Max/Disney+ etc. accounts. We find guests prefer to have access to their own content during their stay.
Potential issues to address ahead of time - if any of these are a problem for you do not book this house:
-It is important to note that the mirror house is organized as a studio space with the living room doubling as a bedroom and uses a creative Murphy wall bed to maximize this living space. While this makes the space feel far bigger, as do the windows on nearly all sides of you, at 200 square ft. inside, the interior feels like a luxury hotel room in the woods including the bathroom which leaves minimal storage space for your things. This size space is not for everyone - If you are expecting a large accommodation, you'll need to look elsewhere.
-The mirrors are coated with a special patented anti-bird strike technology to prevent birds and other animals from not seeing the structure.
-There are 2 security cameras on the property: 1 at the front door (can only see whats at front door) to ensure only permitted people come to the house and 1 in a tree pointed at the road/other construction site to make sure there are no trespassers and thieves stealing construction equipment. There are no cameras showing private areas (inside or deck).

Magical Glass Cabin

Our stay at the glass cabin was nothing short of magical. The cabin itself is a marvel, with its floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Waking up to the sight of the sun filtering through the trees and the tranquil scenery was a highlight. The hot tub was a luxurious touch, providing the perfect spot to relax and unwind while soaking in the beauty of the great outdoors under the stars. Overall, our stay at the glass cabin was an incredible escape. The combination of modern comfort with natural beauty made it a unique and rejuvenating experience. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene retreat.

Magical Christmas Eve

This trip was a one night Christmas Eve getaway for my fiancé and I. This year with no kids we decided to find somewhere off grid to spend a magical night together. It met all of our expectations and more. Jason and Ariel were amazing hosts, we can’t thank them enough for everything they did to ensure we had an amazing time. Check in and check out was seem less and easy. The home was spotlessly clean when we arrived. This was a much needed break from life. We will be back for sure!

“Luxury” is a stretch

There are many reasons why we were not comfortable and why i would never describe the glass house as luxurious. Here are some of the main ones. The glass walls are transparent at night when the lights are on inside. No curtains of any kind. Even the bathroom, which had a swath of dark film around the middle of the glass wall did not completely block the fish bowl effect. The bathroom was cold and incredibly tiny with a toy sized toilet and sink. There was no auxiliary heat. The bathroom door was a set of swinging saloon doors that offered very little privacy from the main room and was about 16” from the kitchen sink. The bathroom threshold was a serious trip hazard. The kitchen had no oven or cook top. There was a weird metal device that had dials and small pans that required a detailed manual to use. There was a plug in single burner in like a junk drawer with other utensils. We brought food to prepare for dinner but gave up on that and drove in to town for a sandwich. The solar power system was undersized causing a power failure. It took several calls to the owner before he finally said to kill the hot tub which allowed the lights and heat to operate. Scratch all plans for a night time dip in the hot tub. Out of concern that there might be another outage we slept in our clothes. With the Murphy bed lowered there was no place to sit other than the two uncomfortable tin metal chairs around the tiny dining table. Theres much more but I’ve run out of characters.
