All bed linen and towels are provided.

Set in a beautiful location.
Quirky layout; you have to go outside to access the bedrooms, but this is part of its rustic charm.
We loved the market town of Martel, and canoeing down the Dordogne.
The house was clean and the kitchen well equipped, except it needs a decent set of kitchen knives.
Although the listing says departure is at 11.00 am we left earlier because the caretaker/cleaner stood over us from 09.30 until we left. Slightly awkward.
But minor niggles aside, this is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of France and this house puts you bang in the middle of it.
Charm, Discomfort and DilapidationCalling all fans of real-life labyrinths: in this house, every room lives on its own. To get from a bedroom to the kitchen, you’ll need to step outside, face the rain or the scorching sun, and then re-enter another wing of the building. A unique experience — unless, of course, you prefer your morning coffee without a treasure hunt. The “multi-centenary” aspect isn’t limited to the stones: it extends to the worn-out electrical system, rickety beds, and patched-up fittings. The house offers full immersion… in dilapidation. The so-called “EU-standard” swimming pool completes the picture: a DIY setup that reassures the owner far more than the guests. In short, an ad full of promises but closer to medieval fantasy than reality. Yes, there’s charm — but it’s drowned in discomfort, safety concerns, and the constant feeling of having been misled.

Comfortable and spacious property in a beautiful rural setting
We spent a very relaxing and enjoyable week at La Brousse. The property is spacious and full of character, and the garden is particularly impressive with a number of areas where you can relax in the shade depending on the time of day. The house is clean and facilities are generally very good. The three bedrooms are comfortable and are located around a terrace area which is especially pleasant in the mornings and evenings. The pool is certainly big enough for cooling off when it gets hot, and there are plenty of sun loungers for relaxing with beautiful views of the countryside. Every evening we sat by the pool watching the sun set behind the hills in the distance. There are some charming local villages and there is easy access to local shops - and amenities - regular village markets - and sites and attractions - cave paintings, historic towns, and rivers for swimming. The owners were easy to communicate with and very welcoming. We would certainly recommend this property both for those who may be looking to spend a week or so getting away from it all, or those who want a base to explore the local region.

charmante maison

A beautiful and peaceful place, reeeeelax.
Labrousse is a beautiful house full of character. Staying here is like stepping into another land. The gardens are so beautiful and the location so peaceful you can't help but relax. The house is full of character - a magical mixture of medieval dordogne architecture and treasures from around the world. If you like your accommodation immaculate and generic this is not the place for you (not that it wasn't clean - it was). The whole place has been lovingly restored by hand and it is full of the character of those who have worked on it and who've chosen to retain the original features. The furniture is all original pieces of good quality, not fitted modern MDF.
The beds were very comfortable. The balcony between the two towers is a beautiful place to relax and watch the sun sinking into the trees. The upper bedroom is accessed through the house - the children loved having a balcony to reach their room and the roof in there is amazing.
The house had everything that we needed - as stated in the description. The kitchen is on the ground floor with a wall of windows down one side looking at the garden - all with curved frames. The stainless steel kitchen was easy to keep clean and the oven has many rings and a double oven for baking. The dishwasher was a small one but we just ran it after each meal. There's a gas barbeque outside too.
To access the rest of the house you go outside and up the stairs, past the zen garden.
The living room was comfy and cool - it was hot outside! There's big telly and dvd player. The lighting is is a little idiosyncratic, it took a while to work out which switch did what.
The pool was lovely - mostly salt not chlorine which was nice, with good loungers and a great spot for sunset and bird watching. The pool was cleaned regularly and there were loads of towels for us to use. Bring your own bats for pingpong - they've been out in the sun too long!
The location is great for visiting the dordogne - far enough away from the busiest places to be peaceful but still surrounded my amazing medieval villages and beautiful wooded hillsides. It's about 5 miles to the boulangerie in Meyssac - there's a great market there twice a week and a small supermarket. Bigger supermarket at Martel which is a beautiful town. Great places to visit nearby - Collonges, Beaulieu, Curemont, Carrenac. Les Gouffres de Padirac are amazing.
What stands out for me though is the peace of Labrousse A blessing. Thank you
