Maizet: house in the valley

Located on a 1.2 hectare property, the gîte faces north-east with a lawned terrace at the edge of a body of water. The free access, on the other side of the stream, allows a southern exposure on 3000 m2. The cottage is accessible by a concrete driveway, from the private parking lot, located on the top of the property. The owners' main house is 60 m from the gîte, the 2 houses are completely independent.
The cottage is an old 18th century bread oven, completely renovated. It includes on the ground floor a bathroom with shower, sink and wc. In the other adjoining room there is the sitting area and the kitchen area. The fireplace is not usable. The downstairs bedroom is upstairs. Wi-Fi and HD flat screen TV are available. The mobile phone network is delicate in the house. A VMC ensures the circulation of air and prohibits the consumption of tobacco in the lodging.
The presence of mallards, water fowl and herons, permanent inhabitants of the valley on the two bodies of water, should be noted. 200m from the road, the cottage has a privileged location since it is located at the start of many hiking trails (hiking and mountain biking), directly accessing the national forest of Grimbosq (450 hectares) and the Orne valley, protected area. Calm and tranquility are often values sought by our tenants.

We absolutely loved our stay. Host was extremely friendly and helpful. Magical place.
Cottage is very private, absolutely lovely with pond and grounds. We stayed for one week, wouldn't hesitate to come again. Everything you need is included. Great rural location.

Pretty good but only 4☆
The property is very pleasant, ideally sited in a very quiet position at the end of a lane. Perfect for 2 people for a short stay. There are some small details which if attended to would have made it a 5☆ experience. 1. Soap dispensers in the kitchen & bathroom had no soap in either. Had to buy our own. 2. Nothing in the kitchen like salt, pepper or oil. Had to buy our own. 3. Taking into account that most visitors would be unfamiliar with the area, I think a small info pack would be useful. It should include such things as nearest supermarket, nearest restaurants. Etc. But overall, a very pleasant experience.

QUIET HIDEAWAY!
This is a small cottage on the owner's property. It is located at the end of a lane so it is very quiet, but challenging to find. GPS will help. The surrounding area has many small towns with limited restaurant choices and food shopping options so go prepared. The owner is very helpful and there is a small but complete kitchen. WIFI is good.

Rural and quiet
The property was very rural for us and there were some things that could have been better in respect of the kitchen side of things. There was no oven and the fridge was far too small and the ice box was a waste of time, a larger fridge freezer would have been better and with no oven it limited was you could prepare for meals.

Delightful cottage, setting and host.
This gite was excellent. It is in a perfect setting- by a small river, and resident ducks! The house was really cosy , with excellent amenities. The whole place was beautiful. We will be returning! If you want a relaxing break in a wonderful setting, run by a really friendly and helpful host, Then this is definitely the place for you!

authentic bakery house and lots of privacy
Good for having long walks in the region. small house for only two persons, basic but sufficient facilities, it's a pity that we couldn't use the swimming pool, this is reserved to the owners' family. The weather was not all too good, but if good weather this is a perfect place to have your holidays. Caen and Falaise ar beautifull places with historic interest. Its also fun (just once) to enjoy the 'Velorails' in nearby Pont du Coudray.

Very beautiful and quiet place to be
We arrived rather early and monsieur Reulet was present and greeted us in a very friendly manner. He trusted us with the key, asked us some questions if we needed anything and whether we had some ourselves. The gîte is a very nice and cozy place. Everything in the region is reachable within ~40-60min via car. There is only 1 reason I gave the gîte 4 stars in the overall rating: The house IS a bit colder downstairs so I recommend people to go there during hotter summerdays. Overall it was a very enjoyable and relaxing stay that we sought and found!
