We enjoyed a three night stay at Mai Chau lodge. As the lodge was quiet being mid-week, we were given an upgrade which was a nice surprise. Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and lake. The local food offered in the restaurant was lovely. As options in the town were a bit limited we ate there every night. Location was excellent for visits to the outlying villages- all in an easy walk or cycle. Best of all were Ninh and her staff. Always friendly and eager to help and offer advice.
Nice place right in town, but very quiet at night. Our room faced a cave in a mountainside right on the Main Street, the view was nice. The hot tub looks amazing, but is not working. The sauna and steam room are nice, there are also kayaks available. We opted not to go to the restaurant because it was very expensive. We went to Mai Chau No. 9 bistro which is amazing! Definitely go and tell the owner Missi and Tim sent you. He’s a gem. I’d stay here again, and hope for the hot tub to be back in action!
Great lodge with beautiful amenities and features given the rural area it is in. The free bikes and cave tour are a must! Rooms and beds are fantastic and the pool is a great touch (although unheated) after a hot day of exploring nearby. Lots of activities to be arranged through their on-site tour office, as well! One thing you must know, though: this hotel is right on the main road through mai chau and most rooms do not offer expansive natural views... We wished we would have been more aware of this before we booked. The restaurant has fantastic food, too. Avoid the wine there, though, as we believe we paid way too much on a bottle of wine that was likely local vietnamese wine poured into a twist off chilean wine bottle... Almost $25 USD for their cheapest bottle and we think it was a scam. But hey, you don't go to Vietnam to drink wine, right? Enjoy the beauty of the region and stay in comfort here! Amazing service and overall an incredible value.
Quiet, calm, and good access to the villages. The cave and pool are great too.

A good base for a stay in Mai Chau
We stayed 3 nights at Mai Chau Lodge so we could visit the local villages. The lodge provides a very good base with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The evening restaurant was not busy on the evening we dined there. Instead we walked to a nearby village and ate at a home stay. The lodge has bicycles to loan as well as a welcoming pool to flop into after a day’s cycling on the flat valley floor. The hotel also helped us with our transfer to Hanoi which worked out very smoothly.
Staff was gracious and efficient. Lodge lovely and welcoming in a tropically worn way.
My daughter and I had the junior suite on the second floor, large and comfortable with a huge balcony overlooking the pool. Nice bathroom with plenty of closet, space and a tub with shower attachment. All a bit "faded glory", for us, the tropics and added to the charm.
I had read a couple of reviews of the restaurant that were not so good, overpriced, slow, etc. this was not our experience. Restaurant cool and peaceful, staff totally with it, kitchen quick and food excellent. Relaxing, not rushed. I found the prices reasonable...high when compared with the Hanoi street food we had been eating for the previous eight days, but I felt totally in line with what we got. We ate every meal there. And our breakfast included was more than I expected.
Made alotmofmuse of the complimentary bicycles.
Love the hustle and bustle of Old Quarter Hanoi where we had been in a Homestay for eight nights. Then, so,happy with the peace and beauty of the Mai Chau Lodge and Valley.
Friendly hotel in a very nice location. Perfect for exploring the countryside of Mai Chau with beautiful rice fields. The hotel offers free tours in the cave. That is a great experience (with lots of bats and a snake!). With the free bicycles you can tour around the Mai Chau area. Hotel facilities are basic but very nice. Staff is very friendly and helpfull.
We booked this lodge as it is close to the main road and the Mo Luong Cave is just opposite. We did not have enough time to explore Mo Luong Cave, but we did hike up the 1000 Step Cave. The entrance is just a 10 mins walk away. The local market is also nearby. Downside is that it is further from the inner paddy fields but I suppose that's not too bad.
Hotel staff were wonderful and very helpful. Due to a misunderstanding on our end from our tour guide, we sort of checked out earlier and the staff had already cleaned the room. However, they were kind enough to let us go back in and take a shower (after our hike). Thank you, Mai Chau Lodge! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Plus points: Complimentary rice wine and chocolates in the room!
Staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Phong (receptionist) I might have spelled her name wrong).
Downside is the breakfast. very disappointing, worse food that I have eaten in all the hotels that I stayed in. The food is tasteless and I got food poisoning.
Photos of the lodge is not exactly what it looks like. It backs onto a dirt road and the view is nothing like the photos shown in their photo gallery.
