Please visit us at 'A World Apart Rentals'. If you see our property listed on ANY other website (i.e. ends in 'list') be aware of fraud & scams!
“A World Apart” is not your typical bare provisioned rental property locked away in a subdivision overlooking more houses than views. Its location was selected and the home painstakingly built by our family to take advantage of the best of Maggie Valley and Western North Carolina. The care and attention to detail is visible throughout.
NOTE: Our home is located at 4000' elevation in the mountains and is NOT easily accessible by motorcycle. The last 1/4 mile to the cabin is a single lane, gravel/dirt road that does a couple of switchbacks. Four wheel drive is HIGHLY recommended especially in the wintertime, but typically a two wheel drive/front wheel drive vehicle is sufficient. Even though our property has plenty of parking and room for cars, trucks and trailers, arriving by motorcycle will be up to the comfort level of the driver and may not be suitable for every rider.
Nestled on 6 secluded acres of Soco Mountain, our home offers a Romantic Oasis for Couples or the perfect Retreat for Families. Relax on the Wrap-Around Porch and unwind while enjoying the scenery and listening to the persistent harmony of the Creek winding through the valley below. If you’re still and quiet, some of the neighborhood hummingbirds might visit and perhaps even an owl or two will announce the arrival of dusk.
The downstairs of our home features a magnificent Stone Fireplace towering over the living room, Cable HDTV with DVD, broad-plank hardwood floors, sofa & loveseat, slate bathroom with Antique Claw-Foot Tub and walk-in shower. The Queen Bedroom features a large armoire, Cable TV/DVD/VCR, and its own door leading to the hot tub. A fully-equipped and well-stocked kitchen with slate countertops and peninsula bar in addition to the dining table for six offers plenty of seating and amenities for your family gathering. Screen doors and windows allow for Mother Nature's ventilation and the sounds of the wilderness without being visited by it.
Upstairs the loft features a pool table and French Doors that open onto a Covered Porch complete with a hammock. The Tin-Roofed Porch plays an unforgettably soothing melody on drizzly afternoons.
In the Master Suite, unwind in the slate-surround Jacuzzi Tub while gazing out at the mountainside Cable HDTV with DVD invites you to just lounge in the pillow-top King Bed watching a movie. The French Doors from the Master open onto a Large Private Balcony that is the perfect place to enjoy the morning’s first cup of coffee.
For those who still feel the need to keep in touch with the outside world, free wireless internet is provided. Please note that this service is wireless only so you'll have to have a wireless enabled computer to use the free service.
Wrap-around porches complete with rockers, swings, Adirondack chairs, charcoal grill and (our family’s favorite) a secluded hot tub for 6 are really why you vacation in the mountains.
On adventuresome days, you’re a short walk to cascading waterfalls and only a few minutes drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Ghost Town in the Sky, the Cataloochee Ski Resort, Cherokee and Harrah’s Casino. A late afternoon trek to see the Elk in Cataloochee Valley is a must do and in little more than 30 minutes you can be enjoying the Biltmore Estate in Asheville or the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad in Bryson City.
We welcome you to be our guests and find out what makes our home 'A World Apart!' However, don't just take our word for it. Our previous guests comments are the best editorial of what you can expect.

Cabin is beautiful, comfortable, and very private. Amenities are outstanding. Hot tub was amazing. Was a wonderful place for our honeymoon. We will definitely be booking again.
It was very clean and cozy and remote enough to feel like you escaped but close enough to get supolies or resturants and things to do .we weere very happy with the booking .
Stayed in Maggie Valley for a week of fishing, hiking, and relaxing. The cabin was well situated and loved the remote feeling. Beds were comfortable and host was great at communicating. Highly recommend this as a get away spot. We were able to relax with our dog in the evenings at the fire pit after a day of exploring.
It's a nice home deep in the woods. Peaceful and private. Be respectful of the driveway as the owner describes. Be prepared to drive carefully its tight and steep but just fine if you take your time. There were a few minor issues but the owner intends to fix them. Great place I'd definitely go back
I stayed here with my 2 adult daughters October 23-25. The cabin was immaculate, very well equipped, and all features well maintained. The road to the cabin definitely required a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our week at A World Apart; no matter where we sat outside on the porch or in the hot tub, it was so very peaceful. The beds were so comfortable. We had a basket of goodies waiting for us on the counter when we arrived. There was bodywash, shampoo, and conditioner included in the showers; large, soft bath towels, as well. We enjoyed the visiting hummingbirds and loved watching the chipmunks gather acorns. We were really hoping to see some elk, but sadly, we didn’t. We didn’t have any trouble getting up to the cabin and Google maps took us directly to it. We were in a 4 wheel drive truck. I feel the only thing that would've made this cabin perfect is a beautiful mountain view. The owners were easy to communicate with. Overall, this was a great find and we're so thankful for the opportunity to spend our vacation in Maggie Valley. We absolutely adore this location of NC
Enjoyed a quiet weekend getaway at this cabin. Morning coffee on the large porch was relaxing. We had no issues with anything and communication with the host was excellent. Driveway was steep as described, but we managed fine with our Camry and we ventured out every day. Would stay here again.

The cabin was beautiful and all the small touches were wonderful. It made you very comfortable. It was a joy staying there. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were very clean. Entertainment was very good. It was relaxing. We did not use the hot tub so I can't speak for that. The only cons I have is the water pressure in the kitchen sink was almost non-existent, but it was fine throughout the rest of the house. The grill was very hard to cook on since it was an open type. Getting there was a real trick. Even with the maps and video it was tough the first time. I bottomed out on the gravel road. The next day the main road had been graded and it made it a lot better. However, Hoot Owl Bill Rd wasn't graded and it was very hard to get up the hill. Overall I would still give it a 5. It was great!
I read the owner's comments about the road/drive conditions and chose to drive my 4WD, for which I was grateful. Once we were there, it was very peaceful and quiet. A World Apart has lots of nice features that provide a relaxing getaway. (Hot tub, hammock, pool table, lot of porch spaces) Plenty to do within a short drive if that is your preference. Had a minor issue, but owner was very responsive and we got it resolved in short order. Would definitely stay again.
My husband and I were looking for a trip away from the noise of our day to day lives. Its been 18 years since we have gone anywhere without kids, etc. This was the perfect getaway. The cabin was perfect, we spent a lot of lazy time there. We did go explore in Cherokee and Maggie Valley 1 day. We did some hiking around the property. Lots to see and beautiful views. I wish we would have booked our stay longer. We will definitely be back again.

Great home
Cabin was great but keep in mind if you do not have 4 wheel drive you will have difficulty getting to it. We most likely would have had to change properties if we didn’t. Outside of cabin could use some tlc, it’s a-bit over grown but the inside is where you fall in love! Very well stocked with just about everything you need. Hot tub was great and the fire pit outside was a relaxing evening. Thanks so much for a well needed vacation. Overall the cabin was great!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this quiet and secluded cabin. The wood-burning fireplace was great, but the chimney may need cleaning as the entire cabin smelled smoky. There is also a problem with mice. We found a dead mouse in the kitchen/den upon arrival and saw another mouse/mice in the den a few times during our stay. There is a gap between the fireplace and the exterior wall that had aluminum foil wedged in place to seal it off, but it did not prevent the mouse/mice from slipping in and out. I understand that when there are woods, there are critters. Other than that, we really enjoyed the cabin.
We had a great time, the last part of the drive was rough but it was worth it once you got there. Definitely more of a place to get too and stay rather than be in and out!
