ABANO GRAND HOTEL – Lifestyle Spa & Fine Dining
10/10 Excellent
"This place is made great by the smiling, warm staff! Absolutely everyone was gracious and went out of their way to be welcoming, helpul and kind - truly! A particular shout out to the friendly wait staff at the restaurants, the fabulous (stop you in the hallway to ask if you need more towels) housekeepers and the always helpful and interested front desk. Place is pretty spotless and I loved the palm-like trees --feels like a tropical resort Italian style. Thank you to everyone at the Abano Grand Hotel!"
"This property falls far short of luxury standards—it's more like a dated motel than a 5-star hotel.
I suspect it may have been upscale 50 years ago, but there has clearly been no meaningful maintenance or renovation since then. The overall condition is very run-down. Towels had visible holes, the pillow felt like a solid brick, and the bathrobe was in such poor shape that it was off-putting just to look at.
The room had no functional temperature control, forcing us to open the windows for any airflow—which unfortunately let in a lot of cigarette smoke from outside, making the space stuffy and unpleasant.
Other issues included:
A very old, heavily stained couch in the room full of holes.
Stained breakfast tablecloths.
Outdated physical keys (not electronic key cards) for both the room and the safe—something that feels like a basic necessity in modern hospitality, not a luxury perk.
We booked for two nights but checked out after just one. The uncomfortable bedding (especially the rock-hard pillow), unbearable heat, and constant smoke made sleep impossible. Unfortunately, the hotel refused to refund the second night.
Overall, this was a disappointing and frankly sad experience for what was presented as a luxury stay."
"Very good spa, well kept, the floor is not slippery, extra carpet is added to the bridge to make the floor non-slippery.
There are several pools, different underwater jets. There is a 4 min electronic counter to switch between the jets in the pool. The rooms are renovated, very clean, with a refrigerator. The hotel provide a one dispenser as a shampoo and soap with the instruction: do not remove. The breakfast is simple, cheese, ham, eggs, no fruits. 15 min walking is Lidl grocery."
"Staff was courteous and everyone at the spa was friendly. However they are a little outdated in some things. The WiFi is very inconsistent and doesn’t work in the spa and bathing areas. Most of the front desk staff isn’t very fluent in English. I like that the housekeepers clean the rooms daily without being asked, but l still had to ask for some basic things, like making sure bathtub had been cleaned thoroughly (even after leaving a tip)
Overall, the pools were wonderful. Very roomy. There is an indoor pool that leads to outdoor area. Massage jets and exercise equipment in the pools. The saunas were great. The mud and massage packages were great and rejuvenating.
If you are on public transport beware that the bus doesn’t run well in Abano. You will have to take a cab to the Montegrotto Station, which is about $17 for a man 8 min drive. Did l mention the cabs are overpriced here?
All in all, l would definitely come back. Btw the food at the hotel is scrumptious. "
"Awesome resort-like hotel with multiple heated pools, great on-site restaurant and bar lounge, and attentive staff. We had a very enjoyable experience and will definitely stay there again if we visit Padua / Venice area. "
