"Started off badly with a failure by the hotel to pick me up at the Madang airport and then no-one at reception to answer the phone when I tried to let them know I was waiting. Eventually got a lift to the hotel with a local who took pity on me. Gate security is good at the hotel, but it's not located in a good part of town, so just stay inside the grounds unless you have a car. Check-in process was easy and staff were all friendly.
