I live under the flight path so was not at all bothered by the occasional plane taking off or landing at the airport next door. If aircraft noise really bothers you, perhaps this isn't the best place for you to stay. Everything was neat and tidy and the bungalows well-equipped. Will happily stay here again.

Illawong Beach Resort

Perhaps one of the best locations in Mackay? Our spacious two bedroom apartment had gorgeous ocean views, and absolute beach access. Easy access to the city also. 😊

Very friendly service, clean and tidy surroundings in a good location. Great views of the beach from our self contained unit. There were holes in a couple of walls behind doors, rusty knife in the knife block, metal blinds were very dusty, the list goes on....

Nice little gem very quiet and close to airport. The place as old but still worth the visit. We stayed in 17 and we could enjoy the ocean breeze every morning while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Lovely bungalow right on beach

A very comfortable unit. Bed and furnishings very comfortable. Well equipped kitchen and laundry. Belinda though not on duty came to rectify an issue with the tv.

Mackay's Hidden Gem

Belinda was amazing and couldn't help us any more. Excellent customer service skills. Room had amazing ocean views and a couple of steps onto the beach. Room was clean and well presented. Great location, close to airport and CBD as well as a couple of steps onto the beach.

Love watching the tides.

Very nice location with a nice Ocean view. Unit was simple but it had a stocked kitchen and great shower. WIFI was excellent and totally free. Pool was refreshing.

Quiet Stay

Yes it is an older resort... but great... quiet. near to beach... sat and watched tide come in two mornings.. out of 2... Great... fishermen going about their business.... great in the morning sun... that sea breeze in the afternoon is something to die for... only wish could be bottled and taken home to the out west area.. definitely on the RETURN TO list... .thanks Illawong... see y ou again soon OH yes... loved the pet goanna... which hides under pathway... woohoo...

Relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The resort has been under new management for the last 12 months. Management is extremely pleasant and willing to fix any problems if any arise. The villas are individually owned. Our villa on the beach showed signs of wear and tear and is in need of some maintenance by the owner. The villa was clean and comfortable. The resort facilities were clean and pleasant to walk through. Some owners need to maintain their villa's gardens. Our overall stay was pleasant and relaxed and for the money spent was good value. We would definitely go again if in the area.

Great spot

Great location. Hot water system failure necessitated a unit change mid stay, but staff were very helpful and upgraded us, which was appreciated. Overall, some building maintenance issues exist. Grounds very well kept.

Great location at the beach

Quite nice 2 bedroom accommodation next to the beach for a modest sum. Loved watching the dramatic tide go in and out .When the tide was out we walked over a mile to the water's edge. Amazing! Being at the end of the airport runway the planes taking off were pretty noisy but they're fun to watch.
