The Cliff Hotel

The Cliff Hotel

8/10 Good
"We travel to the area regularly to visit family and thought we would give the Cliff a go versus our usual chain hotel choice. Overall our stay was good with a few caveats. The good bits: Restaurant was nice with a pleasant atmosphere food good and reasonably priced, bar prices were also very competitive especially for a hotel, room was well appointed and spacious with a huge bed, cleanliness was good overall. The breakfast was very good and hot items are cooked to order. The not so good: Sound transmission between rooms is dreadful, some areas of the hotel are a bit tired, an alarm going off intermittently in the early hours was not welcome and ruined our nights sleep. Car parking is limited and on the second night we had to park some distance away on the road. Would we stay again? Yes possibly but only if we upgraded to a room on the other side of the hotel and at a quieter time when parking is easier."

"Great location and lovely hotel. I did see there was a pillow menu but it would be nice to have good pillows on the bed without having to ask for them. The ones we had were foam and quite hard. We had dinner in the Wine Press restaurant which was very good but only realised there was an alternative menu when a member of our party asked about the different meal they'd seen another table receiving. We had been given the set menu with no option for any other. Guests should be offered both menus to chose from Other than that the hotel was lovely, the staff helpful and we enjoyed our stay"

"Hotel staff were super. The Hotel itself needs a bit of tlc but we were happy with it.our room was spacious and clean. "Lovely room, with a beautiful view. The added binoculars to watch shipping was a great touch. There were some problems around check-in (not Bon Ami's fault) and Nicci was fantastic in sorting them out (do contact them direct if you haven't heard back from them via Expedia). On street parking can be tricky. There is a car park nearby, but you will probably have to pay unless you're in and out between 8pm-8am. The streets change names, so make sure you have the right building. I managed to go to the wrong house, despite Bon Ami having a lovely big sign outside. The guest house itself is lovely. An easy walk from shops and take-aways, fantastic views. Room was thoughtfully laid out, clean, and extremely comfortable. Would definitely recommend."

"Liked how the staff upgraded us and were responsive to our feedback. Liked the bed and linen, and how, mostly, the apartment was clean. Liked how Oulton Broad North railway station was walkable, and how room 11 has a parking space - if hard to find and quite tight. The place was good value. Not so good: There was a stained grey rug in the living area that needs replacing. We didn’t have a tea towel or oven gloves until we asked. There was no bath mat - and not enough hooks to hang towels on."

"The bathroom was clean but a little dated , staff were so nice and very friendly, breakfast was fine but I would not recommend the vegetarian sausages. Parking was plentiful until an event is held. The carvery is very good and very popular, with a reasonable price tag. The dining areas are good with some nice waterside views both inside and out, as the hotel is on the waterfront. ."
