Bridgewater Hotel

"Where to start.... there were 2 drywall patches on wall just inside the door. These were white unpainted 5 inch circles. A couple of grey paint drips on lower bathroom wall, and rust mark on floor by toilet. The toilet kept running continually. The flap inside was detoriated so needed replaced - you couldn't just jingle handle and hope it would resettle - heard sound all night. The toilet had rust stains. Rust marks on shower curtain rod and the holder of the towels. The sheets and towels were in ok condition and the bath tub was clean. There was a strange banging noise at 4 am for an hour. The manager was polite and had tried to give us a quiet room. Place used by truck drivers so a couple left at 530 am - diesel vehicles are loud. Not best neighbourhood, but not on a highway. I would not stay there again. On back of the little envelope for door key card were safety instructions: Always use deadbolt, secure valuables, report suspicious person or acts, never open door prior to verifying ID. Good tips, but made us think that security and safety are an issue at this hotel. Was very overpriced for what you get. I would NOT stay there again."

"This property did not live up to its expectation. The unit was dirty and required extensive cleaning. The unit smelled of cigarette smoke upon entering. The recycling bin in the kitchen was full upon arrival. The sheets had stains on them and the bedsheet was yellow on the underside. The host did offer to send someone to clean our concerns and offer a change of bedding; but that does not really ease the mind given all the cleaning and everything else that we had to address. The unit should have been cleaned before we arrived in entirety. We could also not figure out how to access to unit without using the stairs as everywhere else was blocked with ladders or wood; however it was mentioned in the listing that there was access that did not require the short stairs down. The pictures were picturesque and the area is around is beautiful; but the state of this unit caused us to leave within the hour of checking in and booking another accommodation. We also found out through this experience via vrbo that the host has full authority in authorizing a refund even in these situations; since they offered to change the sheets and come clean the unit for us... So we ended up incurring financial losses with this booking. This was the unfortunate low point of our visit; in a space that inevitably has the potential to be a great destination to stay at and is in a great location."
