Hotel staff were friendly and views from bar and restaurant were lovely, however our room was not worth what we paid. The room was very old and in need of refurbishment as for the view a building was over looking our window . Very disappointed

Great views
Built in the 1930’s with a series of extensions on a sloping site means that accessibility is an issue. Staff were friendly. Large wedding group so service a little slow but well organised. Slightly tired around the edges but good views of sea and 5min walk to centre of Looe

Great location and friendly staff.
Lovely hotel. Great location. Needs some updating and breakfast a little limited. Our room had issues with hot water and smells in bathroom. Would return though.

Can’t wait to go back to this hotel it was wonderful I had a much needed rest and my dog was happy as no sound of fireworks !! Def staying there next November 5th ! I had a problem with a continual sound of drums and rang reception to ask where it was coming from . The duty manager John said there was a guy who practiced drums in his garden room behind hotel !! He kindly moved me to a seaview room at front of hotel which was lovely and quiet . I so appreciated his kindness . Breakfast was first class so much to chose from an extensive cold and hot buffet . The dining room staff were friendly polite and extremely helpful It was great to have free parking and plenty of it just opposite the hotel. I’m thinking of going for a spa weekend in the new year with my friend . I would recommend this hotel 100% I really cannot find any fault

My room was bright and airy, with a window opening onto the garden. The bathroom was modern and well-equipped with toiletries. The swimming pool was lovely, with a relaxing jacuzzi as well. I used it twice on a one-night stay. We arrived before check-in on the Saturday, but I had rung beforehand and was assured I was welcome to use the pool before checking in, and that towels would be provided. I was at the hotel for an evening function, where the food was delicious and the service excellent. The buffet breakfast was also very good. The hotel setting is perfect, with lovely walks along the coast. There are a lot of steps, both up to the front door and inside the hotel (there is a lift but sometimes you do need to use stairs eg to the pool) so it may not suit anyone who has difficulty walking. A lovely short break.

Fire alarm fault
I arrived at the hotel after a 6 hour drive. Incredibly tired I went to sleep only to be woken and evacuated due to a faulty fire alarm. I stayed an extra night due to lack of sleep and again at 1am I was woken by the faulty fire alarm that wasn’t fixed from the first night. I now feel poorly due to having approximately 3 hours sleep in two nights. Very disappointing.

Great hotel, friendly staff and an awesome holiday
Our room was spotless and it was probably the comfiest hotel beds I've ever slept in. Very happy with this. We visited in August 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic so things were naturally a bit odd, room not serviced as they normally would but clean towels, tea, milk and anything else we needed for the room was available. However, the rooms should have been serviced part way through our stay and they weren't. We didn't see this as much of a problem though but just a bit irritated with the lack of consistency of following through with the procedures they'd put in place. Breakfast was great. A little slow some mornings but staff numbers were reduced and we never had to wait very long. We were on holiday too so weren't in a rush. The evening meals we had in the hotel were very good and the drink selection, especially gin and rum were excellent. Also a very good wine choice. The management here obviously took much pride in a well stocked bar. All the staff were very friendly and were ready to hand over our keys without us having to keep telling them our room numbers. It helped make us feel very welcome. We would happily stay again if we were to go back to that area.

Off peak winter break
Booked a superior sea view room, the views are amazing, but the room was much smaller than expected and a double bed rather than a king size was a disappointment. Bathroom clearly newly refurbished and bedroom appear to be part way though with new chairs and bedding colour scheme, but old unmatching curtains and furniture which was just odd. And at £260 for 2 nights off season was top price for the of standard room. Spa facilities very nice, massive spa bath and steamroom (which was sadly out if action), but pool full of children so very noisey! Breakfast was excellent.

Disappointed
I was very disappointed, I booked 2 nights for a quite relaxing break. Hotel did not resemble the photos. My room was tiny and very stuffy, I asked for a fan which they provided but I didn’t sleep for the 2 nights I left feeling more tired then when I arrived! Service at bar for food was very poor so ended up missing dinner completely. The Spar/pool was very dirty and obviously not checked by the staff.

The location was really good and the view from the restaurant was lovely. It was about a 10 minute walk to the bridge to town, or slightly less to catch the ferry, which was really worth doing. The room was tired and dated, but was clean. The public areas in the hotel were much nicer. The leisure facilities were good, although the hot tub wasn’t working which was disappointing.

Not bad, but not as good as the reviews say
I only stayed one night - In general the hotel cleanliness was OK, but overall did not meet expectations based on the online reviews I read before making the booking. I did not eat at the restaurant, choosing to eat out instead. General conversations with others shared the same opinions that the hotel is in need of update renovations

Has potential
To find a hotel room for under £40 within 30 minutes to where i needed to be the next morning was good. Hotel has free parking and in general it was quiet so got a good night sleep. The negatives. Breakfast is included but they dont serve until after 8am which is too late when you have to be somewhere. i had to buy breakfast elsewhere to get to my appointment on time. When i arrived i was told there was a pool and jacuzzi that if i wanted to use to come to the desk, they would provide token and towels which is what i need to use pool, and pool closes at 9pm. I got to desk at 8.05pm and was told that they dont let anyone in to pool after 8pm which i told her she didnt tell me that earlier when i checked in. She agreed on this one occassion to let me still use pool. She took me up and showed me where the locker area was. When we got there i asked about token for lockers and was told the token was for access to get in to pool area and i needed to use a £1 for lockers which i didnt have any and explained to her that she could had told me that before. So sadly i was unable to use the pool as i had valuables on me i didnt want to leave unlocked. When i got back to the room i went to find a plug to charge phone. When i looked under bedside tablet to see if there was a plug there all i found was cobwebs and spiders which looks like it hadnt been cleaned in a long time. Overall: For price good sleep but would be better if staff could communicate and rooms cleaner

Enjoyed everything about this hotel except the bed. They do need to think about upgrading their mattresses because it felt like sleeping on a board! We were luckily enough to have a sea view and balcony which was very nice. The breakfast was good and the staff helpful and polite.

Beautiful location and stunning views
We stayed for our Wedding Anniversary in a Seaview Suite, the furnishings are a little old fashioned but the view more than made up for it. We had stunning weather and it was worth setting the alarm for 6am to see the sunrise. Staff were very friendly and the bar man was a hoot. We would highly recommend this hotel and the location.

Nice staff - shame about everything else.
We decided to stay at the Hannafore because we needed somewhere on our way to another part of Cornwall. We were expecting it to be dated. It is an old seaside hotel after all. But we did not expect it to be as dated as it was. Think Linton Travel Tavern where Alan Partridge stayed during 1997. That. Given that it was peak season, we paid peak season prices. The hotel was very quiet. Staff were very pleasant. We had our room upgraded to one with a view of the sea and a small balcony. The room benefited from the sunshine. But this exposed where cleaning had missed ancient dust on the fake mahogany tables and chairs. The bathroom was clean. The amenities include a pool, a spa area, and the usual hotel facilities. Again, dated and could do with an upgrade. The jacuzzi was dirty and the 'hot beds' area had lights dangling from the ceiling. There are also A LOT of rules. During our first night, we woke to water leaking from the ceiling onto the bed. It was persistent. The staff acted promptly and moved us to another room. The leak came from the room above which had been flooded with water from a burst pipe. The next day we moved back into the room assured no further leaks would happen. They did not. Water damage was visible but the room had been cleaned. Breakfast was mediocre to poor. Again, dated style. Sausages might as well have been veggie they had such little meat in. Overall, Alex Polizzi needs to pay a visit. She'll whip it into shape.
