"Running water was hit and miss; rarely had any; and there was absolutely no hot water.
A Dog next door barked continuously.
Given 1 towel with a sachet of cheap shampoo and a small bar of soap.
The Receptionist doesn't speak English and sims dont really work and wifi is not great so take a phase book if you don't speak Spanish.
Door lock is very hard to work.
Separate WiFi for the cabins but the receptionist only gives out the wifi for the lower ground, make sure you ask for it.
Flimsy curtains so light filters in.
There is nowhere to put your clothes.
There is a safe and fridge in the room."
"Rancho Kuxtal feels like discovering an idyllic secret. It's so small and tucked away off the tourist route in Yucatan.
Kasie and Victor are such welcoming hosts and we felt totally at ease. There are masses of animals - domesticated, wild and somewhere in between. Cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, ducks, iguana, birds and of course the horses. They're all so loved and well cared for.
The horses are calm, well trained and well kept. We did an hour long trail, very well suited to my friend who is a complete beginner. Victor and Miguel made her feel so confident she trotted in the corral at the end. Also because Yucatan is so flat, it's easy riding in the heat.
The photographs of the accommodation don't do it justice; the ranch is rustic but the cabins are surprisingly luxe.
The ranch is easy to get to from Tulum or Cancun; buses go frequently to Tizimin and from there it's a short taxi (about $100 pesos).
There's not much accessible from the ranch unless you have a car or are happy to take taxis everywhere. But that's also what's great about it - it's a quiet retreat.
Couldn't recommend more. "
