"Best hotel of our Costa Rica trip yet. What a special place! The physical space is beautiful. The wildlife on the property and the gardens and general space were exceptional. Loved seeing toucans and monkeys right by our room. Loved walking to the ocean and river and town so easily. Wonderful boat tours of the national park with Steven. He blew us away with his knowledge of the flora and fauna of the area. Great responsiveness to emails and any questions or concerns. Also wonderful night tour...

"Tortuguero is expensive, even by Costa Rica standards. Our room was basic with hottish water. The room was cleaned every day but the bed was broken and the pipes were all patched up in the bathroom which made it seem a bit down at heel.
Hotel receptionist was helpful but very keen to push tours. "

"If there was an option to give more than 10 for excellent services, extremely courteous staff and the value of money - I would have done that.
The facility and services were beyond our expectations. Would definitely recommend all readers to try this place - just 5 stars "

"This is very good value accommodation in a beautiful setting. Our room was simple but very clean. The staff were friendly and the home cooked diner and breakfast were good. The owners work closely to support the local community and so it feels really nice to stay here and support their great work. "

"This is a beautiful ecolodge and very well managed by Pedro and his staff. Pedro goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable. Their food options are very creative and excellent especially since we were vegetarians. The place is remote and provides a true jungle experience while still having the basic amenities to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. They have well organized guided walks both at night and during the day, several of them covered within the reservation. "

"This guest house is great. The staff are so helpful. Emmanuel on reception contacted us in advance to give us really useful travel advice. The ferry dropped us straight to the guest house so we didn’t have to carry our bags a long distance. We were in the lagoon room which had an amazing view. Really good value for money. I definitely recommend this place. "

"The worst experience in Costa Rica. Service nul. Food ridiculous, no choice, horrible. Room without window, smell bad, activity with over price. Swimming pool not clean. Never again"

"Our stay for our family of 4 at Aninga Lodge was fantastic. The room was clean and convenient. We spent a lot of time at the pool with the kids, they loved it, especially when the monkeys and toucans were hanging out in the trees. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The only downside we found was the transportation between the hotel and Tortuguero town. There is a boat provided for the hotel every few hours, but it isn't often enough to be convenient. The other option is to take a taxi boat, but at $4/person it gets a bit expensive for a round trip for a family of 4. They could also do a better job of making sure their boat drivers look for you when you reserve a space on their boat. When we first arrived, we had scheduled a ride on the boat and they just told us to be at the main dock in Tortuguero 10 minutes in advance. We expected them to have a sign or at least call out our names or the name of the lodge. That didn't happen and the docks are busy so we had no idea which boat to get on. We ended up missing the boat. "
