Paxton's Tower (National Trust) is a Neo-Gothic folly / an eyecatcher and banqueting hall / also known as The Nelson Monument / erected by William Paxton in 1806-1809 in honour of Admiral Lord Nelson - killed at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. It is a triangular building with a hexagonal castellated roof. "We had a lovely stay at Kingfisher cottage. The grounds of Maesgwynne Mansions (on which this small courtyard of cottages is situated) are lovely; this time of year flowering rhododendrons are a highlight, and a walk around took us past the fishing lake and neighbouring fields with various farm animals. There are fabulous views, and the outdoor swimming pool had a cover enabling us to use it even in early May. very peaceful & highly recommended."
