About this property
Cabin on 20 Acres | Wildlife, Big Views, Firepit | Close to Yellowstone
Welcome to The Blackhawk Cabin, a peaceful retreat tucked into Montana’s breathtaking Paradise Valley. Whether you're seeking relaxation or outdoor adventure, this charming, private cabin offers the perfect basecamp for your stay. Located just 18 miles south of Livingston and about 45 minutes from Yellowstone’s North Entrance in Gardiner, the cabin sits at the end of a classic Montana bumpy gravel road, on 20 acres of open land — often visited by herds of elk, pronghorn, and soaring hawks overhead. Inside, you'll find rustic charm and comfort with plenty of space to relax. Step outside and enjoy 360-degree mountain views, wide open skies, and brilliant stars at night. Lounge on the wraparound porch, gather around the firepit, play horseshoes, or just soak in the quiet. Whether you're roasting marshmallows under the Milky Way or enjoying a cup of coffee at sunrise, The Blackhawk Cabin is the perfect place for you to slow down, reconnect, and recharge.
BEDROOMS: Bedroom 1: Queen bed, ensuite half bath, dresser, closet, ceiling fan, blinds, and fresh linens Bedroom 2: Queen bed, dresser, closet, ceiling fan, blinds, desk, and linens provided
KITCHEN AND LIVING: The living room has a sofa that converts into a bed (queen size) for additional sleeping. The cabin is spacious with a full kitchen with stove, microwave, full size refrigerator and dishwasher. The clean kitchen is stocked with all you need for staying and cooking in. The living room is great for game night, relaxing and enjoying the views out of the large windows and doors to the east and to the south. We provide all linens, soaps, detergents and items found in an everyday kitchen.
MISC AMENITIES: There is a stack washer / dryer in the the cabin for doing laundry, with laundry detergent. We provide a pack and play and child's high chair, bluetooth speaker for music, and all bathroom soaps and amenities, hairdryer and more.
OUTDOOR AMENITIES: With 20 acres to roam, you'll experience the tranquility and solitude only a private retreat like this can offer. Step outside onto the expansive wrap-around deck, where panoramic views of the hills and mountain vistas provide the perfect backdrop for your morning coffee or an evening of stargazing. Whether you're soaking up the peaceful sounds of nature or enjoying a lively barbecue with loved ones, the deck is an ideal extension of your living space. The deck with 4 outdoor adirondack chairs, and a wood burning firepit are to help maximize your outdoor time! There is a nice propane grill for guest use and also a horseshoe pit.
*** Also on the property is a smaller guest cabin, The Blackhawk Nest, optionally available to rent with the main cabin. It sleeps up to 5 and is spaced far enough to ensure privacy, but close enough for group gatherings. You can rent both the Cabin and The Nest together if you want to have the entire property to yourself! The Cabin and the Nest each have their own firepit areas and are distanced for privacy and seclusion, as well. Renting both, if available, you automatically get a 10% discount off the nightly rate.
The roads to the Cabin and the Nest are gravel, so please drive slowly. The road and the cabin are plowed in the winter, but we always recommend (though not necessary) a 4wd vehicle.
Nearby, the charming towns of Livingston and Emigrant await with its welcoming community, vibrant arts and live music scene, and local dining experiences. Of course, the grandeur of Yellowstone is never far, only a 40 minute drive to the North Entrance in Gardiner, offering countless opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and exploration of the planets largest concentration of geothermal wonders.
PET FRIENDLY: (max of 2 well behaved dogs) with PRIOR approval and $200 non-refundable pet fee.
GARBAGE: There is no garbage service in the area, so guests must take their bagged garbage to a local "green bin" during their stay and before departure.

This cabin is very spacious, and well equipped. It is in a very beautiful setting, with wonderful Mountain View’s. Access to Yellowstone River is near. Yellowstone park is less than hour away. Livingston restaurants less than 30 minutes away.
We stayed with a toddler and the house has everything we possibly could need. We slept like on clouds on the comfy beds and spend the days outside in the generous yard. But the best about the house are the views and and the quiet. We very much enjoyed our stay!
My husband and I booked this property as part of our honeymoon road trip. The property was clean, the kitchen was stocked, and the views were incredible. A few warnings before you book the property:- It is a 3.5 mile drive on a dirt road full of potholes. I highly recommend a vehicle with clearance in order to get to the property. - The fireplace is NOT able to be used. We were looking forward to that, so just want to make everyone else aware! - The wind here is CRAZY, so be prepared for that. It is highly unlikely you will be able to have a fire outside. - The half bath is in the closet of one of the bedrooms. But overall, a great property as long as those things don't bother you!
We had a wonderful stay in the Cabin. Everything was as detailed in the listing and very clean and cozy. We greatly appreciated the bear spray we found in the Cabin (so we didn't have to make a purchase before going into YNP) and the cooler we found in the closet. We especially enjoyed the rural location where we could clearly see the Milkway Galaxy at night. Very close to YNP and Livingston where we could enjoy dinner every night. We will be back!
