This detached cottage, once a Victorian stable is situated in the owner's garden in the beautiful South Downs National Park area. There is free parking with exterior security camera. Downstairs it has a compact fully equipped kitchen, an open plan sitting/dining room (4.9 x 4.7m) and a garden room/playroom (4.5 x 2.9 m) with a variety of books, toys, games and DVDs plus a pool table / table tennis table which converts to a second larger dining table if needed. Upstairs there is a spacious family room (5.5 x 4m) which sleeps up to 4 people (1 of the single bed slots under the other when not in use) with attractive vaulted ceiling and ensuite bathroom. If a family or group of 4 want to be in separate rooms then the downstairs sitting room has a comfy double sofa bed and there is a separate toilet and basin. Enjoy snuggling into the Sherpa rugs while watching films on a cold night; make use of the Indian brazier/BBQ on a cool evening outside (please ask owner as we keep it in the main house in winter). Note that the upstairs bedroom opens onto the stairs. The garden is shared with the owners who encourage guests to use it; there is a climbing frame and slide, a basket swing and a trampoline with safety net (all to be used at guests' own risk); look out for the creatures hidden in the garden and Tree Beard. The nearest good dog walking area is Durford woods which is a 5 minute walk from the house, but we are surrounded by lovely areas to walk and good family and dog friendly pubs. How about visiting Butser ancient farm and then going onto Butser Hill for some star gazing followed by a Hampshire pub meal. Try a day in Portsmouth exploring the Historic dockyards and amazing views from the Spinnaker Tower followed by a meal and cocktail at Gunwharf Quays. For R and R try a day or an evening spa session followed by a meal at Champneys Forest Mere Spa in Liphook (5 mins drive). For Jane Austen fans you can visit her house in Chawton where she lived for the last 8 years of her life. This is a fantastic location from which to explore Hampshire and the beautiful South Downs National Park, to walk part of the South Downs Way, visit Alice Holt Forest (great climbing/play equipment for children and Go Ape) and other places of interest such as Petersfield Heath and boating lake, Gilbert White's House and gardens in Selborne, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (HMS Victory, The Mary Rose , Action Stations and nearby Navy museums), The Watercress line, Goodwood racecourse events, Paulton's theme Park, Fishers' Farm park, Petworth and Uppark house and gardens (National Trust) and the beautiful historic city of Winchester.
Liss is home to this cottage. Petersfield Museum and The Olivier Theatre are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Petersfield Golf Club and Liphook Golf Club. Travelling with kids? Consider Herne Farm Leisure Centre, or check out an event or a game at Anstey Park. Power boating and swimming offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with hiking nearby. Visit our Liss travel guide

Our second time staying here for our visit to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Rooms were lovely and clean and beds were comfortable, really needed after a couple of long days! Welcome basket was much appreciated and basics like milk, coffee and tea were provided. Lovely area and definitely a property to keep on our list for when we visit the area again
We stayed at the Old Stable Cottage as a base for the Goodwood Revival meeting and it proved ideal. A scenic country drive to the racetrack was only half an hour away.
The cottage is very spacious, a large bedroom upstairs with an ensuite bathroom, while downstairs there is a large well equipped lounge and dining area. There’s another toilet on the ground level with a small kitchen and a conservatory. Our host Lucy provided us with excellent supplies for our first breakfast, everything was very clean, and all communications were first rate. A highly recommended venue, we’d love to stay here again.
Great hosts Lucy and rob , clean and a haven for kids with lots of games, puzzles etc . Really good for surrounding visits , Portsmouth , Chichester , etc and good pubs with one a short walk from property , also for us the added bonus of an ev charger .would highly recommend
The home was spacious and clean. The homeowner helped my family feel at home and provided us with so many children’s books, toys, and activities.
Fantastic stay! Highly recommend for anyone in the area.
From arrival to departure we had a great stay. Our 4 year old loved the selection of toys and we certainly enjoyed the breakfast treats. Would definitely come back and recommend.
We chose the location because it was central to several relatives over a holiday visit from the US. We are so glad to have happened on this listing. Easy to get to, great hosts, great amenities. Thanks Lucy!
The property had everything we wanted, and lots more. Very spacious and comfortable. Ours was a summer visit, but the property is well equipped would be equally attractive and comfortable through the colder, darker months.
We had a lovely stay in the cottage. The communication with the owner was excellent. She really went out of her way to make things as pleasant as could be, the kindest person you can think of. The cottage was large, there was a nice garden, our dog could roam free, and played with the dog of the owner. Nice bath facilities. One of the nicest stays we ever had, due to the people who run it!
Really impressed with location of property (we attended Goodwood Festival of Speed). Instructions provided were easy to follow and were correct. House was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. The kids played for hours with the provided toys and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. The beds were really comfortable and perfect after a long day walking. This will be our first port of call the next time we are in the area and we could have easily stayed longer.
The property was lovely and comfortable everything we needed was there, the host was really lovely and available, she went above and beyond. We will definately be back
My daughter & I stayed for two nights. We were attending a running event at Midhurst only a 20 min drive away. The cottage was perfect for us. Clean, quiet, homely & comfortable & Lucy was a lovely host. The cottage would be ideal for a family too with plenty of games & books etc to keep children occupied.
We enjoyed staying here very much! The owner was very helpful and responsive to my questions. Everything was as advertised. My adult son and I stayed here, but I can see it being a great place for a couple or family to go.
The house was very spacious and so lovely. We enjoyed the garden, the veranda, and the beds were very confortable. Thanks to Lucy for such a wonderful stay.
The accommodation was perfect for us & our dog 🥰
Lucy & family are absolutely lovely ,so friendly & accommodating, will definitely be returning.
Many thanks to the Edgar family xx
The Victorian Cottage Stable was probably the best self-catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. There was fresh straw on the floor (only kidding) and very, very comfortable. Would reccomend to anyone.
We had a lovely week at Lucy's place. Its location is good, given its proximity to hiking trails, cultural sights, the beach and even London. The house itself is comfortable, especially the bedroom. For kids, there is an abundance of toys. Last but not least, Lucy was most welcoming and very helpful to find our way around Liss. We would recommend this place to anyone.
