Beautiful property, wonderful host

Perfect place to stay with a family with children. Everyone enjoyed the pool and walks along the coast. Easy access to Sintra and Lisbon. Rui and Graca truly went out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel welcome.

Family Holiday near Sintra

A wonderful property perched on the cliff in the National Park. Riu the property owner could not have been more helpful in looking after us in his family home. A great place to stay and a lovely holiday

Great remote oceanfront quiet location

Don't trust your GPS. For some reason Google maps and the GPS in the vehicle did not correspond. Apparently this is a common occurrence in this area. Got lost, but owner sent someone right away who took us to the house. Once you know your location, it's easy to get around. Multiple small towns within driving distance (15-20 min) in the area with a lot of history things to do and see. Cant swim in the ocean in front of the house. Great beaches nearby.

Tranquility at its Best

One always hopes that the actual lives up to the pictures. This house exceeds that. Absolutely spectacular. The host could not have been nicer and accommodating. Helped us arrange a private chef come in and prepare a dinner. All I can say is it was worth the cost. Chef Frederico was incredible. The road in and out was a little challenging but that just added that much more charm. The ease of getting to different beaches and site seeing made the location perfect. We would definitely do it again. 9 days just isn’t enough. A must do!!!!

Peaceful Seclusion

Overall, we really enjoyed a weeklong stay at the villa - tons of room, rustic old world vibe. The views are unmatched and the property has unique features (outside kitchen, cliff access, vegetable garden, diving board). We were there at the end of May - the weather was perfect: warm during the day, cool at night. There were a couple days of high wind and the rest of the stay was calm. This is a remote area so it's very quiet and the surrounding area is great for long walks. We had no trouble using Google maps to navigate to/from the home. We visited Ericeira, Cascais and Sintra easily. The kitchen is very well equipped and easy to prepare meals: lots of pots, pans, plates, glassware and the dishwasher worked well. There is a washing machine (no dryer) and a cleaning service came to refresh, during our stay. The bathrooms upstairs have been renovated and worked great. I agree with other comments that there is a lot of clutter/outdated decor and dampness, due to the ocean proximity, but we did have the windows open a lot and did not run the AC so that is to be expected. The mattresses are very firm and the wifi is ok - fine for browsing the internet but difficult to have video calls, if you have to work from the villa. Verizon cell service worked well. The host is wonderful! Very communicative, had cheese and wine waiting for us, resolved issues and facilitated a chef to come to the house to prepare an incredible dinner. This villa was great for a family trip.

Charming and unique house in a fabulous landscape

I didn't really know what to expect of the home and the area but we were not disappointed - it was fabulous. Incredible scenery and walks along the cliffs. Local town of Ericeira only 20 minutes away for restaurants etc.. Comfy home with everything you would need for a holiday with friends or family.

Amazing villa

We travelled as a group of 8 (6 adults 2 teens) Villa is amazing. Clean and fully equipped. The view is spectacular . You just can’t stop looking at it. Pool is great sized. Villa spacious and comfortable. Host is very friendly and informative. Location easy to drive to from Lisbon. (FYI The last part of the drive the road does not have tarmac.) Also be aware Google maps does recognise a number of the local undriveable dirt tracks as road! Location is minutes from a beautiful sandy beach. Assafora the nearest town is a quick drive and has a great butcher and two small supermarkets which were very well stocked. Larger supermarkets are not far in Mafra and Ericeria. Would definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful villa. You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful spot!

It is a beautiful spot. Overlooking the ocean and very peaceful. The owner was very nice and helpful with all our requests. He even brought us cheese and wine when he met us to check in. House was remodeled here and there. Pipes are old and in need of help. The water upstairs in the bathrooms tasted and smelled funny. We think it can use a water filter. We were there for 10 days and could have use a washer/ dryer. The owner offered for the cleaning lady to wash, dry and fold them, which was very nice of him. We didn't take him up on the offer since our clothes are different fabrics, texture ect. Overall the house worked out great for us. It had more than enough space. The views were spectacular.

Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 5 Personen vor Ort, einzigartige Lage mit auf das Meer und den Sonnenuntergang. Das Haus ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen, alles ist mit irgendwelchen Sachen voll gestellt. Das schlimmste war, der moderige schimmelgeruch im ganzen Haus, wir hatten durchgehend alle Fenster auf, dennoch richen alle unsere Anziehsachen, Koffer etc. nach Schimmel.

Heerlijke dagen gehad

Heel fijn en ruim huis. Met 10 personen is het fijn om veel ruimte in en rondom het huis te hebben. Het zwembad was top, lekker ruim en een duikplank. Dit was een hit bij de kinderen. Heerlijke ligbedden bij het zwembad aanwezig. Het uitzicht is geweldig !!! Voor de schaduw kun je onder de veranda zitten, prima vertoeven. Wij misten hier alleen een lekkere zitbank. Waar je ook ‘s avonds heerlijk op Kunt zitten met een vino. Buitenkeuken helemaal top !!! Keuken binnen werkt naar behoren, veel servies aanwezig. Vaatwasser en koelvriescombinatie erg fijn dat die aanwezig zijn. Thee/hand en vaatdoeken lagen klaar. Binnen een heerlijke ruime bank en grote eettafel waar wij met z’n allen konden chillen en eten. Bovenverdieping helemaal top, badkamers werken naar behoren en zien er prima uit. Slaapkamers ook niks op aan te merken. Halverwege onze vakantie kwamen ze het huis schoonmaken en werd het zwembad schoongemaakt. Een auto is wel nodig om eea van de omgeving te zien, huis ligt mooi afgelegen, serene rust !!! Dichtstbijzijnde strandje is een aanrader, hier is een heerlijke strandtent aanwezig. Zowel boven als aan het strand beiden zijn aan te raden. Boven aan vooral voor het ontbijt en de lekkere tosti s !!!! Je kunt daar wel alleen cash betalen. Beneden voor een heeerlijke pizza, heerlijk ! Rui had ons van te voren filmpjes gestuurd met hoe alles werkt en wat we waar konden vinden. Super fijn ! Vriendelijke gastheer. Wij hebben 11 heerlijke dagen gehad !!

2 weken verblijf met volwassen kinderen in verband met huwelijk in Sintra

Inchecken ging prima, de hulp stond klaar met sleutel en uitleg verblijf. De weg was moeilijk te vinden, omdat alle navigatieprogramma's verkeerde weg aangeven. Misschien proberen om dat bij google en waze aan te passen. Ook Über en Bolt konden.het huis niet vinden. Huis was wat muf en vochtig bij aankomst, maar na goed luchten werd dat minder. We hadden perfect weer, niet te warm, maar wel lekker, daardoor heerlijk buiten kunnen eten, of bbq en daarna binnen gegeten. Het huis staat wel heel erg vol met potten en pannen en overal kussentjes en prullen. Ik denk dat het goed is als alle pannen een keer uitgezocht en opnieuw ingeruimd worden. Kasten in slaapkamers liggen vol met dekens en spreien, waardoor er weinig bergruimte voor kleren was Verder was alles ruim voldoende aanwezig. Verrassing was ook dat er 2 x schoonmaakhulp de keuken en badkamers kwam doen. De badkamer beneden heeft niet echt een functie als badkamer. Mag wel gerenoveerd worden. Eigenlijk zijn er maar 2 volwaardige badkamers. Helaas hingen er binnen en buiten camera's die in functie waren. Binnen en 1 buiten afgeplakt ivm privacy. We hebben 2 prachtige weken gehad in een huis met een fenomenaal uitzicht. Rui bedankt.

Unvergesslicher Urlaub

Wir hatten einfach eine wunderschöne und unvergessliche Zeit in Ruis Haus. Man fühlt sich direkt wohl. Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet, ob Spielzeug, Decken oder Küchenütensilien. Die Betten waren sehr gemütlich und die Bäder sauber. Der Pool mit dem Sprungbrett ein absolutes Highlight für die Kids und die Papis! Die Umgebung einfach traumhaft. Mit dem Auto kommt man innerhalb von 10-20 Minuten zu den Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Sehenswürdigkeiten. Ericeira und Azenhas Do Mar, hat uns besonders gut gefallen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!! Rui vielen Dank für deine Gastfreundschaft und Hilfe bei allen Belangen. Es war einfach wunderbar!! Liebe Grüße von uns allen.

Outstanding stay in a spectacular location

Rui’s beautiful home on this special coast was a dream. The house was large enough to accommodate all of us- 8 adults and two children- and keep us all entertained. Each room was comfortable and Rui has clearly thought of ways to make everyone feel comfortable. The property and grounds are glorious- the kids loved running around the garden and playing in the pool, and checking the garden daily for fresh lettuce and strawberries! The adults loved having so many comfortable places to sit, read, enjoy a cocktail, or have a nap. This house is made for large families and entertaining. We went to the local markets for almost everything, and enjoyed cooking in the fantastic kitchen and on the grill- we will be back to try out the pizza oven next time! We traveled to Ericeira a couple of times. And loved checking out the market there for beautiful, local food. We enjoyed sitting in the square, eating tapas, having a drink, and people watching. The beaches there were gorgeous. One night, we hired a chef who came to the house and cooked us traditional Portuguese food- it was a brilliant culinary experience and I highly recommend it to anyone with a large group- or maybe a special occasion. We learned about Portuguese food and met great people who took care of all of us for the evening. We loved walking along the cliffs to the beach- Praia da Vigia - this is another ‘must’ if you stay at Rui’s house. Unparalleled natural beauty and unspoiled beaches, only reached by a walk down some challenging paths- and so worth the effort. Rui is warm, professional and responsive. He communicated from the day we made the booking to the day we departed. I so highly recommend his home and I hope everyone who stays there has as wonderful a time as we did. Portugal is beautiful, Assafora is charming, and Rui is a delightful host who works hard to meet every need,

Incredible remote villa

This villa is amazing. Huge grounds, great sized pool, homely inside and beautiful views of the ocean. We travelled in early June and had largely great weather. Rui is a great host, gave a full tour on arrival and then helped with any questions through the week. I would suggest all guests should receive detailed directions from Assafora before arrival, Maps show multiple routes to the property but only 1 from the village is acceptable to drive. Assafora itself is a small village but this is still a great base if happy to be more remote, for trips to nearby restaurants, Sintra and Lisbon.

A beautiful property, beautiful Villa. Beautiful setting. Isolated, quiet, difficult to find without GPS. As advertised , pictures are accurate. No amenities close. The small town of Assafora, about 12 minutes, half on gravel road. A full market about 10 to 12 KM away. Sintra about 30 to 40 minute drive. Rained part of almost every day. Wind was almost constant. Cooler than I expected. Children should be watched closely outside the locked gate toward the ocean. The pool was too cold to swim this time of year. Internet worked OK. I had cell service through T. Mobil. Overall a beautiful Villa.

Amazing property, great host

Had a wonderful stay at Rui's villa 45 mins north of Lisbon. Everything you could need was available and Rui was an excellent host available when needed and ensuring we had a great stay. Fantastic pool with stunning views over the ocean. Near to local facilities with fabulous beaches within driving and walking distance. Highly recommended.

Buenas vacaciones

La casa es muy grande, con diferentes estancias, porche, amplio comedor y zona piscina grande. En mi caso, soy usuario de silla de ruedas, no tuve problemas con la habitación ni el baño, sólo un escalón para entrar. Para acceder a la cocina/comedor, has de bajar por escaleras interiores o por una cuesta empedrada que rodea la casa, con ayuda en silla de ruedas, así como la bajada a la piscina, inaccesible sin ayuda. En mi caso hemos estado 9 personas adultas, con lo que he tenido ayuda y me he "apañado" bien. Las vistas son impresionantes, a 30 min aprox de grandes urbes como Ericeira o Lisboa, donde comer, cenar o hacer un poco de turismo, aunque para compras básicas, hay un supermercado en el mismo pueblo. Por lo general y en mi caso ser un poco cansado en silla de ruedas, nos llevamos muy buen recuerdo de éstas vacaciones. El propietario, muy cordial, nos explicó todo a la entrada y estuvo en permanente contacto via whatsapp para dudas y de más.

Wunderbare ruhige Lage, aber einige Renovierungen und Neuanschaffungen notwendig

Die Lage mitten in der Natur, der herrliche Ausblick auf das Meer (zu dem es leider keinen direkten Zugang gibt) und der tolle Pool sind schon eine Reise wert. Ein wirklich schöner Ort, um zu entspannen und die Natur zu genießen, abends die Sterne anzusehen und bei Meeresrauschen einzuschlafen. Das Haus ist groß und bietet auch an regnerischen Tagen genug Platz für viele Menschen. Leider waren einige Dinge der Einrichtung bereits kaputt oder sind innerhalb kurzer Zeit kaputt gegangen. Beispielsweise konnte man ein Schlafzimmer nicht abschließen und in einem Badezimmer ist nach wenigen Tagen das Schloss kaputt gegangen. Ein Waschbecken verstopfte schnell und ein Knopf am Gasherd löste sich immer wieder. Besonders auffällig war auch ein modriger Geruch in allen Schlafzimmern, sodass es fast permanent notwendig war zu lüften. Ansonsten war Rui zwar nicht persönlich vor Ort, um uns das Haus zu zeigen, er hatte jedoch eine telefonische Führung durchs Haus organisiert. Bei allen Kontakten war er stets freundlich. Insgesamt würden dem Haus einige Renovierungsarbeiten sowie Neuanschaffungen sicher gut tun. Dennoch haben wir unseren Aufenthalt dort sehr genossen.

Excelente!

O local é muitíssimo cuidado, com uma paisagem magnifica. Casa com excelentes condições para descanso e lazer, primando pela privacidade. O Anfitrião é de uma amabilidade incansável, sempre com total disponibilidade para ajudar e garantir que nada falta. Sem dúvida um espaço maravilhoso para conviver em família e com os amigos. Foi uma ótima a estadia. Recomendaria a qualquer pessoa.
