Motovun

"Very cute apartment over 3 floors with a small but fully stocked kitchen. Good air con on top 2 floors. Short steep walk (7 mins) to the top of motovun. You check in at a restaurant up the hill and one of the staff then takes you to the apartment. Free parking nearby. Only real negatives were the shower cubicle which was way too small and quite a few mozzies in the evening when drinking wine on the terrace…"

"Ein wunderschöner Kurzurlaub – absolute Empfehlung! Meine Frau und ich haben drei Nächte im San Tomasini Heritage Hotel verbracht und waren von Anfang bis Ende absolut begeistert. "Lovely small hotel in the small walled city of Bale. Very good breakfast buffet & excellent attached 5 star restaurant. Excellent service. For North American travellers, there is no elevator so you may want to transfer your travel items into a smaller carry-on. For the hotel, please add an in room kettle. As a traveller, sometimes you need to make yourself an herbal tea or an early morning coffee. Also, please have 100% overhead coverage of the areas connecting the buildings. It rained during...

10/10 Excellent

"We would happily return. Enjoyed renting bikes and spending the day along the coast, enjoying the sea."

Hotel Molindrio Plava Laguna

8/10 Good

"Great hotel and perfect location for our event Ironman 70.3 Poreč! Smaller room than expected (compared to photos) but soon got used to it and we used the balcony to store the bike. Comfortable bed, with adequate storage and spacious bathroom. Daily room service to replenish towels and hotel service for extra pillows and anything else you may need. We had breakfast and dinner included - both services had a wide variety of foods at the buffet that were all delicious. They even had an earlier breakfast service provided on race day which was greatly appreciated! The chefs were there to cook fresh food to keep everything replenished, and the staff were always there to help tidy away. Me and my husband enjoyed trying out the different foods each night, specially the deserts! One thing we made use of was the sauna and wellness area which you could use for 2 hours per day. We used the Sauna and steam room a lot, specially post race. Towels, water and tea were provided. My husband also used the Gym there on the first night which we were pleasantly surprised by, lots of free weights, machines and a squat rack. One highlight for me was being able to get my hair done by the hotel hair dresser, I wanted some french plaits done for the race and she managed to squeeze me in the day before. Very reasonably priced and friendly. Overall really happy with our stay, friendly staff and great experience. Such a lovely place to stay, we would come back!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lindar?

The best area to stay in Lindar is within the village centre itself, offering a truly authentic Istrian experience.

Lindar is a small, elevated village with a distinctly historic feel. You'll find a church, a bell tower, and a few traditional stone houses, many of which have been beautifully restored into holiday rentals. The village is compact and easy to navigate on foot, providing a tranquil escape with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It's great for those seeking a peaceful retreat and a taste of local life.

For couples, staying in one of the restored stone villas in the village centre is ideal. These properties often blend traditional architecture with modern comforts, providing a private and romantic setting. You can enjoy quiet evenings, perhaps dining al fresco with views of the rolling hills, and explore the village's historic lanes at your leisure.

Families will also appreciate the relaxed pace and open spaces around Lindar. Many villas come with private gardens and swimming pools, offering plenty of room for children to play.

When is the best time to go to Lindar?

The best time to go to Lindar is during the late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the region is less crowded.

For couples looking for a romantic and relaxed getaway, these shoulder seasons offer warm, sunny days great for exploring the Istrian countryside and coast without the intense heat and crowds of mid-summer. You'll find it easier to book tables at popular restaurants and enjoy the local vineyards and olive groves at a leisurely pace.

Families travelling with children might prefer the summer months of July and August for guaranteed warm weather, ideal for enjoying the nearby beaches and water activities. While it's the busiest time, Lindar itself remains a relatively tranquil base, allowing for day trips to the coast followed by peaceful evenings back in the village.
