Recent Reviews in Lichte

Hotel Adler

Hotel Adler

10/10 Excellent
"When I originally booked my stay, comments from previous guests described the decor as old and outdated. I found the opposite. The building is old (German poet Schiller once stayed there), but the room was modern throughout with walk in shower and staff very professional and polite. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel is right on the market square in the heart of the city within easy walking distance of everything. A farmerā€™s market is in the market square in front of the hotel several times a week as well as a stand with Thuringian bratwurst. A tourist info center by the market square next to city hall (Rathaus) was very helpful. I highly recommend the Adler Hotel in Rudolstadt."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lichte?
The best area to stay in Lichte is generally within the main village centre, particularly around the Lichte River valley.

This central area of Lichte offers convenient access to local amenities and the starting points for many outdoor activities. The village is located in the Thuringian Forest, so even the central parts feel connected to nature. You'll find a few local guesthouses and holiday flats dotted along the main roads, providing a good base for exploring.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat with easy access to nature, staying in a guesthouse or holiday home slightly outside the immediate village centre, but still within the Lichte valley, can be ideal. These locations often offer more secluded settings with direct access to walking trails and scenic views of the forest, great for quiet evenings and relaxed mornings.

Families will find the main village centre suitable due to its proximity to any local shops and eateries.
When is the best time to go to Lichte?
The best time to visit Lichte is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

In spring, the Thuringian Forest awakens with lush greenery and blooming wildflowers, making it ideal for hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the region. Temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 10Ā°C to 20Ā°C, superb for outdoor activities without the summer heat.

Autumn offers equally agreeable conditions, with the landscape transforming into a spectacular display of reds, oranges, and golds. The air is crisp, and temperatures are comfortable, usually between 8Ā°C and 15Ā°C. This season is particularly good for enjoying the scenic hiking trails and experiencing local harvest festivals.

While summer (July and August) is also popular, with warmer temperatures between 20Ā°C and 25Ā°C, it can be busier with more tourists.
