"Studio 508" is located in historic downtown Leadville. Surrounded by mountains in all directions the downtown echoes both the fortunes and struggles of a real Colorado mining town. Close to restaurants, unique local shops and of course the tallest peaks in Colorado.
"Studio 508" will accommodate 1-2 guests. Please note* If you have a large group the adjacent "Bunkhouse" will accommodate up to 6 additional guests. It will need to be reserved separately.
This charming mining town retreat has breathtaking views from the second floor windows overlooking Colorado's two tallest peaks, Mt Elbert & Mt. Massive. The space opens up to vaulted ceilings and an airy feel. With a fully equipped kitchen, queen size bed, full bath and extra sleeping in the loft, the studio has everything you'll need. Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, smart tv and in-floor heating are just some of the amenities. Original wood floors with soft plush rugs. At the same time you're just steps away from Leadville's most popular Coffee and Espresso house. The smell of baked goods will surely drift through the air as you walk down the stairs for your morning cup of coffee. Exclusive access to the studio apartment. Coffee shop, foyer, hallways are washer/dryer are shared spaces.
The downtown has a culture all its own. Unique shops are scattered up an down Harrison Ave. There are plenty of gear shops to get you setup for winter or summer sports. Getting around Leadville is easy, be it by foot or bicycle everything is relatively close. While there are buses that travel between Lake County and Summit County, you'll need to check the schedule for each season. Highways and roads leading north toward Summit or south toward Buena Vista are maintained in the winter months.

Beautiful Relaxing Stay

The property was perfect! The home was clean and had everything we needed. We took full advantage of the beautiful dock and spent most of our time there or in the lake! Would highly recommend this property for your next stay at SML!

Very enjoyable stay

The cottage is situated on a quiet street set back from the road. It was exactly as advertised: well stocked kitchen, great back porch, beautiful spot in the cove with deep water. Thank you for making this a pet friendly property. Our dogs enjoyed the lake too! We really enjoyed our stay.

Anniversary trip

Overall the house, especially the screened in porch was wonderful. We really enjoyed the huge dock and the house is close to shopping and restaurants. I had to wipe all furniture off on the porch when we arrived. The yard needed cleaned up also.

Great cottage

The cottage was perfect in every way. Clean, comfortable, and well supplied with anything we could think of. The location is perfect and a very easy walk to the dock. The owners were easy to communicate with. We felt very welcome in this home. We would definitely stay at this cottage again. Thank you for sharing your home.

Perfect Place for a Relaxing Time Away!

Stayed here with my parents, husband and our pup! Loved the location. Private and relatively quiet. Dead end street which was great for walks and runs. House was cute and cozy and stocked with everything we needed! Spent tons of time hanging on the screened-in porch overlooking the lake. Dock was AMAZING for sunbathing, reading a book and swimming! Overall great experience, would definitely return!

Getting away from it all!

My husband, myself and our pooch enjoyed several days here. It was perfect for us...tucked away in a quiet cove, plenty of yard for our dog, a wonderful screened in porch, a beautiful dock where you could choose to sit in the sun or the shade. (Bonus points!) The house was comfy and had everything we needed. The master bed was super comfy. And it was an easy drive to multiple restaurants. The owners were very responsive when I had questions about the area. We loved it and hope to return.

Perfect location on the lake.

This was our 2nd year renting this property. The location is perfect for what we are looking for while at SML. The dock is spacious and easily accessible with minimal steps from the awesome screened in back porch. The house is clean and well maintained. Communication with the owner, or property manager, is a breeze and they are sure to respond quickly with any questions. We will continue to use this property every year we visit SML.

Great Getaway

Property was in a good location and in good condition. As with all VRBOs it was obviously well used. Dock was awesome for our 23 ft boat. Ramp at Virginia Dare is a bit neglected but close by.Hosts were very responsive in terms of providing information, although we had no other issues. Property and area also dog friendly for walking. Deer in the yard every evening and hanging on the dock was very cool. Awesome wind chimes in the back yard. We arrived at the conclusion of a tropical storm which left the front yard and gravel driveway spongy requiring fwd to get out, but under normal conditions there should be no issues. Adequate room for three couples. Washer and dryer a bit grungy but they worked. Screened in porch was really nice. A/C and heat were good. Would recommend this property. Had a good time.

Beautiful home and location but a little different experience for us.

The Lake cottage at Smith Mountain like was very inviting and well decorated. Everything: yard, lake, deck, rooms etc, was beautiful to look at which is why I rented it. We also enjoyed watching 4 young foxes and their mother that lived in the yard next door and deer on our lawn in the evening. A real treat for this animal lover. My boys loved fishing and caught bass and brim from the dock and the boats supplied. Strange to me that I learned a week before before our arrival (probably my fault) we had to bring our own sheets and towels. Ahhhh, a family of 7 flying with no linens. However I called the owner and she was gracious. she provided sheets for 3 beds and 5 towels. I then scrambled and had my young adult college students supply or borrow for me the rest of the sheets and towels we needed The other difference for us is we have never arrived at vrbo rental house that was not stocked with the basics like laundry detergent, coffee, garbage bags, dishwashing soap, a blow dryer, shampoo, salt and sugar etc. I would like to add kitchen was well stocked. it had plenty of dishes, glasses, bake wear, utensils etc. There also was an iron and ironing board and lots of blankets and pillows. The house was very clean, the TV worked great. the wifi worked unfortunately it was very slow. The house felt spacious and comfortable except for the room with the bunk beds. The bunk bed room was very small and a VERY hot room. Fortunately a cold front came through the third night which solved the problem. Despite the bare bones and the hot bunk room I would rent it again. The overall experience was good as the house was so nice and clean. Thank you Robert and Elizabeth,

Great Getaway by the Lake

My second visit to this cozy cove cottage and loved it again. My Portuguese water dog and his buddy were in dog heaven. Kayaking was fun and the peacefulness in the cove was relaxing. House is well equipped with everything you need and comfortable. Screened in porch is the best place to be! Hope to return!

Great vacation

We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. We spent a lot of time at the dock. There is plenty of shade and sun if you want it. Location is in a fairly private cove, so you can swim without worrying about boat traffic. Kitchen is very well stocked which we appreciated because we cooked most of our meals while there. We enjoyed the new gas grill. It’s about a 15 minute drive to Food Lion. The beds are comfy. The property is in a quiet neighborhood and we took long walks every morning without having to worry about traffic. Deer in the yard every night- and sometimes in the daytime.
