"Old beach hotel that’s been upgraded very recently. Rooms are completely renovated and smell good with attractive decor. Pools are nicely maintained and well appointed. Restaurant is very nice, lively, and convenient. Free valet parking. Rooms in the back buildings are very peaceful. Two recommendations: a thin curtain for privacy with sunlight and replace the door that was old and you could see light all around it thus letting in noise from the road."

"Banyan Harbor Resort is an old property and has not been kept up. If you have difficulty going up and down 18 steps outside - open to the elements - do not consider this property. And those steps were to get to the first floor rooms. There is not an elevator . And if you had a room on the 2-4th floor- plan on a marathon of outdoor steps. the room we had separate window air conditioners in each room that were very noisy and dirty. Blowing dirty air- as shown by the dirty , dusty curtains above each unit. Plus the motors vibrated the windows. The bathrooms were very dated and one of the toilets was tipsy. The shower head was coming out of the wall and the shower handles were full of black mold. Maybe a fresh coat of paint might have helped covering up the rust. We had a reservation for a king with 1 bathroom and all they had was a two bedroom 2 bath with full size beds. My husband and I were on a romantic vacation and sleeping separately was not in our plans. (TMI) Overall cleanliness was not good and I kept expecting to see bugs but I did not. Linens and towels were old and the pillows were very uncomfortable square shaped and flimsy. Thank goodness we were only spending one night because the property is located near the Lihue airport. We would not recommend staying at this property. Yes, it was convenient to have a kitchen with refrigerator . We had asked if there was shuttle service to the airport and they had told us yes- but that was not true. Plan to Uber. "

"This is an older resort and needs some updates, but our room was so nice. They upgraded us to oceanfront and we loved turning off the ac and opening the glass door to see and hear the waves roll in, also beautiful ocean breezes. The staff was amazing. So kind and helpful. And we got a great price for the product. Would definitely stay there again! Just behind Coconut Marketplace, so walking distance to shops and good food. Jo Jo’s and Chicken in a Barrel are two of our favorites. Great location to north shore, Lihue and Airport."

"The whole vibe of seeing the ocean at the back of the hotel, and watching the sunrise from the room. Most of the staff were good. I requested for early check in but room was given firmly at 3 PM. Breakfast is just okay. The bathroom sink can be cleaner."
