I usually stay at the Palms Place via Airbnb, where Sun-Thurs are about $100/night total (no resort fee), and they are real studio apartments incl. kitchen w/ fridge, stove, dishwasher, in-sink-erator, everything except a real oven, marble bathrooms, and amazing views looking west for incredible sunsets.
Sometimes the Palms is booked, so I tried the Orleans for a night (another Boyd property) but the casino is obnoxious and smelly, there's no good restaurants in under a mile walking distance from there, and it still cost over $100 (resort fee!) on a thurs night!
Gold Coast casino is more chill w/ less smoke, the decor is not as absurd as Orleans, and it's on Flamingo not too far from Umiya and other restaurants I like. Even with resort fee I paid just $77 on a sunday night.
Rooms seem to be identical in layout to Orleans. The condition of furniture and bathroom fittings etc was fine at that price point. However, the carpet in the room is worn and not convincingly clean. Windows look only north or south -- no sunset. Deal-breaker for me is that the old AC hardly got the temp down to 76 at bedtime, and in an effort to get fresh air I opened the only window that wasn't fused shut (in the shower) and got a strong whiff of... ammonia! I suspect the AC units are leaking their NH4 refrigeration fluid... bad for environment and guests!
I won't be back.
