"Our room was beautiful, looked just like the photos. Lots of things to do. We came to visit a family member who moved here. The only downside was that no one is very fond of Americans, so demeanor and service changed quite a bit once we started talking and the knew we were from the US, it was made pretty obvious. "Room was unclean on arrival. Door required a special manoeuvre to unlock which was a real fire risk as the room windows don’t open. We reported both to reception, but were greeted by a shrug of the soldiers and some story about renewing the cleaning contract at the end of the season. Breakfast was cold meat and cheese with watered down orange juice and just the one toaster. Some staff were helpful but others weren’t. Whilst offering fishing, the staff didn’t know how to obtain the 2 Euro per day...

"We really enjoyed our stay. Very nice place. We had a lodge, which had its own parking. Parking outside the hotel which was a ten minute walk was a bit difficult. Really good swimming area and pizzaria though."

The price is amazing for what you get, we stayed in the Villas and the apartment was very nice. The staff have always been so nice and the area is just beautiful. "A historic building on the outside, modernized on the inside, the guest house lies on the Salpa Line which was built to defend Finland during WWII. The Karelian flag flies proudly in the garden. The hosts arrange tours of the line and enthusiastically suggest walks and activities around Lappeenranta. The walk from the house to the lake Myllylampi was beautiful and alive with birds. "The cottage is very cute. The layout was very good and there was enough room for all six of us. The view was incredible and we never got tired of watching the lake through the large windows! The sauna was comfortable and the teenagers loved heating it and then swimming in the lake. The bonus point was that there was a cafe by the water and some restaurants at the hotel - all at the short walking distance. The place surpassed all my expectations."
