The best area to stay in Laaiplek is the waterfront area, particularly along the main street that runs parallel to the harbour.

This central area offers direct access to the working harbour, where you can watch fishing boats come and go. It's very walkable, with a selection of seafood restaurants, local shops, and art galleries lining the street. The Laaiplek Hotel, a well-known local landmark, is also situated here, contributing to the area's established feel.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will find this area particularly appealing. You can enjoy strolls along the harbour, dine at restaurants with views of the water, and easily access boat trips or fishing excursions. The convenience of having everything within walking distance means less time travelling and more time enjoying the coastal setting.

For families, staying near the waterfront also offers good access to activities. While not bustling, the area provides a pleasant base for exploring the nearby beaches and the Berg River estuary, known for its birdwatching opportunities.

The best time to visit Laaiplek is during the shoulder seasons of spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May).

These periods offer pleasant weather with comfortable temperatures and less wind, making it ideal for outdoor activities like exploring the Berg River estuary or enjoying the beaches. You'll find the natural beauty of the West Coast in full bloom during spring, and the autumn months provide a calm, sunny experience before the busier summer.

Couples looking for a peaceful getaway will appreciate the quieter atmosphere during these months. You can enjoy strolls along the river, wine tasting at nearby estates, or simply relax at a riverside restaurant without the larger crowds of peak season.

Families might also find these times appealing, as the weather is still conducive to beach days and exploring the town's attractions, but with fewer visitors, making for a more relaxed holiday.
