While La Trinitaria itself is a smaller town, the best area to stay for visitors is near the Lagos de Montebello National Park, particularly around the communities of Tziscao or the immediate vicinity of the park entrance.

This area is the primary draw for visitors, offering direct access to the stunning lakes and natural beauty of the national park. You'll find a selection of cabins and guesthouses located amongst the pine forests, often with views of the lakes. It's a peaceful setting, ideal for those looking to connect with nature.

Couples often find the lakeside accommodations particularly appealing. Many of these guesthouses offer a tranquil retreat with opportunities for kayaking, hiking, and simply enjoying the scenic vistas together. Some even have small restaurants attached, offering local cuisine.

For families, staying close to the park entrance provides convenience for exploring the various lakes and viewpoints. There are often opportunities for horse riding or boat trips on the larger lakes, which children usually enjoy.

The best time to visit La Trinitaria is during the dry season, which runs from November to April.

During these months, you'll experience pleasant temperatures and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty, like the Montebello Lakes. The days are typically sunny and warm, superb for outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, or simply enjoying the scenery.

The shoulder months of November and April can be particularly appealing. You'll often find fewer crowds compared to the peak winter months, yet still benefit from excellent weather conditions. This allows for a more relaxed experience when visiting popular sites.

While the wet season (May to October) brings lush greenery, it also means higher humidity and frequent afternoon showers, which can sometimes disrupt travel plans.
